How to sew / embroider a French knot

In this DROPS video we show how to sew / embroider a French knot. Insert the needle from the wrong side and up to the right side where you would like the French knot to be positioned. Wind the strand around the end of the needle 2 to 4 times – depending on how big you wish the knot to be. Thread the needle down, 0.5-1 stitches away from where the strand came up and pull it out on the wrong side. Pulling the strand through the material fastens the French knot. How to sew / embroider chain stitch

In this DROPS video we show how to sew / embroider a chain stitch. Insert the needle from the wrong side and through to the right side where you would like the chain stitch to begin. Insert the needle down through the hole the strand came up through, then to the right side again approx. 2 cm further on – allow the strand to lie under the point of the needle. Now thread the needle through the piece and form a loop with the strand which comes up in the middle of the loop. Insert the needle into the piece approx. 0.5 stitches in front of the loop and pull it through the piece. The chain stitch is finished, for more stitches repeat. How to sew / embroider back stitch

In this DROPS video we show how to sew / embroider back stitches. Insert the needle from the wrong side and to the right side where you wish the stitch to start. Skip 1-1.5 cm, insert the needle down and then up to the right side again approx. 1 -1.5 cm further on. Pull the strand through. You have worked a stitch with a gap to the next stitch. Insert the needle in the hole where the previous stitch ended and bring the needle up on the right side approx. 1 -1.5 cm further on. Continue like this if you want several back stitches. When the last back stitch has been worked, insert the needle where the previous stitch ended. Pull the strand to the wrong side. Back stitch can be worked vertically, horizontally, diagonally and round in a circle. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. How to make a decoration knot

In this DROPS video we show how to make a knot to be attached as a decoration to a Santa that is worked on a jumper. The same technique is also used to make a star at the top of a Christmas tree jumper. KNOT: Make a knot at the top of every Santa hat/ Christmas tree. Tie the knot around a stitch. Cut 2 lengths of colour off white. approx. 10 cm. Place strands together, use a needle and pull strands through the top off white stitch so that both yarn ends are on the right side of piece, on each side of stitch. Tie a knot, then tie another knot but in the opposite direction. Cut the yarn ends approx. ½ cm (Santa) / 1 cm (Christmas tree) long. How to sew a cob web on a basket in DROPS Extra 0-1171

In this DROPS video we show how to sew the cob web to the Halloween basket in DROPS Extra 0-1171. COB WEB: Sew on cob web, see diagram A.1. First sew the vertical lines that go around the middle, then sew evenly, beg in first round with dc in green. Then sew the diagonal lines in 3 rounds. Beg the vertical lines with 1 stitch at the beg of round (- see arrow in diagram), sew 1 stitch in the middle of bottom, sew through edge, baste on the back, sew through edge, sew 1 stitch in the middle of bottom etc. the entire round - NOTE: Make sure that to avoid a tight yarn. Then sew the diagonal lines (= 3 round), sew 1 backstitches around each of the vertical lines in the crossing point to fasten the vertical lines. How to crochet eyes to a play mouse

In this DROPS video we show how to crochet the eyes to the play mouse in DROPS Extra 0-1506. The eyes are crocheted by long double crochet in a stitch 2 rounds below. Crochet like this: Use Colour 1 and work 1 double crochet in each of the first 8 double crochets, insert the hook in the next stitch on round 6 (= 2 rounds below), use Colour 2 and pull this strand through the stitch, change back to Colour 1 and pull the strand through the 2 loops on the hook (= 1 eye/1 long double crochet), work 1 double crochet in each of the next 6 double crochets with Colour 1, insert the hook in the next stitch on round 6 (= 2 rounds below), use Colour 2 and pull the strand through the stitch, change back to Colour 1 and pull the strand through the 2 loops on the hook (= 1 eye/1 long double crochet), work 1 double crochet in each of the last 8 double crochets = 24 stitches. Fasten the Colour 2 strand on the inside (wrong side) of the mouse. This mouse is worked in DROPS Lima, but in this video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to make the face to the Santa jumper in DROPS Children 32-20

In this DROPS video we show how to attach the beard, moustache and how we sew grafting stitches for the eyes in the Santa jumper in DROPS Children 32-20. BEARD: 1 fringe= 1 strand of 45 cm using off-white. Cut 18 fringes.Each fringe is fastened above the purled stitch on the neck of the Santa. Fold the fringe double, thread the loop around the stitch, then thread the strand-ends through the loop and tighten. Fasten a similar fringe in each of the 17 remaining stitches over the purled stitch. Then tie a loose knot using all the strands; tie the knot approx. in the middle of the strands. Trim the beard to the required length. MOUSTACHE: 1 fringe= 1 strand of 7 cm using off-white. Cut 8 fringes. Fold the fringes double and thread the loop around a stitch beneath a purled stitch on the face of Santa, then thread the strand-ends through the loop and tighten. Fasten a similar fringe beneath each of the purled stitches. Trim the moustache to the required length. EYES: Using a left-over of black, sew grafting stitches over 3 stitches and sew 1 stitch across the next stitch towards the middle. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
