How to bind off an elastic edge with yarn over
In this DROPS video we show one way to bind off with yarn over so that you get an elastic edge. We show both how we bind off over knit stitch and purl stitch. Knit the 1st stitch, make a yarn over, but an opposite yarn over (from back to front), knit the next stitch = 2 stitches + 1 yarn over on the right needle. With the left needle lift the yarn over and the 1st worked stitch over the last stitch = 1 stitch on the right needle. The next stitch is a purl stitch and work as follows: Make an ordinary yarn over, purl 1. Lift the yarn over and the 1st worked stitch over the last stitch = 1 stitch on the right needle. Make a new ordinary yarn over, purl 1. Lift the yarn over and the 1st worked stitch over the last stitch = 1 stitch on the right needle. Repeat the description above the entire row, with opposite yarn over when knitting and ordinary yarn over when purling. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
