HAT: Cast on 108-120 stitches on a short circular needle size 3.5 mm = US 4 with Puna. Work rib in with 2 purl stitches and 1 knit stitch until piece measures 14 cm = 5½". REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Switch to circular needle size 4 mm = US 6, work next round as follows: (* Purl 2 together, knit 1 *, work from *-* 8-9 times, purl 2 and knit 1), work from (-) 4 times in total = 76-84 stitches. Then work as follows: * Over the next 13-15 stitches work ENGLISH RIB – read explanation above, work A.1 over 6 stitches *, work from *-* the entire round. Continue this pattern upwards until piece measures 27 cm = 10⅝" (adjust so that next round is 3rd round in English rib explanation) and work next round as follows: (* Purl 1, knit yarn over and slipped stitch together *, work from *-* over the first 13-15 stitches, knit the 6 stitches in A.1 together 2 by 2), work from (-) the entire round = 64-72 stitches. Work next round as follows: * Purl 1, knit 2 together 6-7 times in total, knit 1, knit 2 together *, work from *-* the entire round = 36-40 stitches. Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 on round= 18-20 stitches. Knit 1 round. Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 9-10 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Fold rib at the bottom of hat in the middle. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle. NECK WARMER: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 126-144 stitches on a short circular needle size 3.5 mm = US 4 with Puna.
