Gauge: 17 sts x 23 rows on larger needles in pattern = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Pattern: See charts (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st. Rib: * K 1, P 1 * Body: Cast on 117-129 (135-144-150) sts on smaller circular needles with red; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 5 cm [2"] rib. Change to larger circular needles. Knit 1 cm [3/8"] stockinette st, increasing 15-15 (21-24-30) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 132-144 (156-168-180) sts. Knit Pattern 1, then knit with red until the work measures 24-24 (25-25-26) cm [9.5" - 9.5" (9-⅞" - 9-⅞" - 10.25")]. Now divide the work in two and knit the rest of the front and back separately. Inc 1 st at each armhole edge for seam = 68-74 (80-86-92) sts. Back: 68-74 (80-86-92) sts. Continue with red. When the work measures 29-31 (33-35-35) cm [11-⅜" - 12.25" (13" - 13.75" - 13.75")], bind off for armholes at each side every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times = 56-62 (68-74-80) sts. When the work measures 47-50 (54-56-58) cm [18.5" - 19.75" (21.25" - 22" - 22-⅞")], bind off the center 28-28 (30-32-32) sts for the neck. Dec 1 st at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off the remaining sts for the shoulder when the work measures 48-51 (55-57-59) cm [18-⅞" - 20" (21-⅝" - 22.5" - 23.25")]. . Front: = 68-74 (80-86-92) sts. Sizes 3/4 + 5/6 + 7/8 years: Knit Pattern 2 over the 18 center sts. Sizes 9/10 + 11/12 years: Knit Pattern 2 over the 39 center sts (two bees with 3 sts in between - reverse one Pattern 2 so that the bees are looking at each other). At the same time, when the work measures 29-31 (33-35-35) cm [11-⅜" - 12.25" (13" - 13.75" - 13.75")], bind off for armholes at each side every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times = 56-62 (68-72-80) sts. After Pattern 2 continue with red until the work measures 43-46 (50-52-54) cm [16-⅞" - 18-⅛" (19.75" - 20.5" - 21.25")], then bind off the center 6-6 (8-10-10) sts for the neck. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 6 sts 1 time, 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time. Bind off the remaining sts for the shoulder when the work measures 48-51 (55-57-59) cm [18-⅞" - 20" (21-⅝" - 22.5" - 23.25")]. Sleeves: Cast on 27-27 (30-33-33) sts on smaller double pointed needles with red; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 cm [1.5"] rib. Change to larger double pointed needles and stockinette st, increasing 7-7 (8-7-9) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 34-34 (38-40-42) sts. Inc 1 st each side of marker 15-17 (18-17-20) times: Sizes 3/4 + 5/6 + 7/8: every 3rd row Size 9/10: every 4th row Size 11/12: alternately every 3rd and 4th row = 64-68 (74-74-82) sts. When the work measures 25-29 (32-35-38) cm [9-⅞" - 11-⅜" (12-⅝" - 13.75" - 14-⅞")], bind off 3 sts each side of marker and knit the rest of the work back and forth on the needles. Then bind off for sleeve caps every other row: 5 sts 3 times. Bind off. The work measures approx. 29-33 (36-39-42) cm [11-⅜" - 13" (14-⅛" - 15.25" - 16.5")]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew side seams. Pick up 75-84 sts on smaller double pointed needles with red around the neck; join and knit 2 cm [0.75"] rib. Bind off. Sew the sleeves to the body. |
