PULLOVER: Gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat * - *. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. Each row of the chart equals 9 rows of knitting. Knitting tips (for raglan): Dec as follows in each transition between sleeve, front and back (start 2 sts before the marker): From right side: K 2 tog, slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. From wrong side: P 2 tog, twisting sts, P 2 tog. Knitting tip: If your row gauge is not accurate, the yoke will not be the correct length. If your gauge is too loose, dec more frequently. If your gauge is too tight, add rows between decs. Body: Cast on 124-128-144-152-164 sts on smaller circular needles with beige; join and place a marker at the join. K 1 row, then knit rib until the piece measures 4 cm. Put 1 marker at each side (62-64-72-76-82 sts between markers). Change to larger needles and stockinette st, following Pattern 1 to finished measurements – see instructions above. Read the entire next section before knitting: Opening for Granny Square Insert: When the piece measures 10-13-11-12-10 cm (right side row): Knit the row but P the 28-28-32-32-38 center sts on the front. On the next row bind off the center 26-26-30-30-36 sts on the front (for opening) = 98-102-114-122-128 sts. Continue in stockinette st back and forth on needles keeping 1 st at each edge of opening in garter st. When the piece measures 25-28-29-30-31 cm cast on 26-26-30-30-36 new sts over the bound off sts on the front = 124-128-144-152-164 sts. Rejoin the work. On the 1st row, P the center 28-28-32-32-38 sts on the front. Then knit all sts in stockinette st again. Armhole: When the piece measures 27-30-31-32-33 cm bind off 6 sts at each side for armhole (3 sts at each side of markers) = 56-58-66-70-76 sts remain on Body. Lay piece aside and knit the sleeves. Sleeve: Cast on 32-36-36-40-40 sts on smaller double-pointed needles with beige; join and place a marker at the join. K 1 row, then knit rib until piece measures 4 cm. Change to larger double-pointed needles and stockinette st following Pattern 1. When the piece measures 6 cm inc 1 st each side of marker every 4.5-5-5-5-4.5 cm a total of 7-7-8-8-10 times = 46-50-52-56-60 sts. When sleeve measures approx. 36-40-44-46-50 cm (adjust so that the stripes on sleeves are at a point where they can be attractively joined with the stripes on Body and you can avoid having one big stripe on the sleeves), bind off 3 sts each side of marker = 40-44-46-50-54 sts. Lay piece aside and knit 2nd sleeve. Yoke: Put the sleeves in on the same circular needles as body where you bound off for armhole = 192-204-224-240-260 sts. Put 1 marker in each transition between front, back and the sleeve (4 markers). Read the entire next section before knitting: Raglan shaping: Dec 1 st at each side of all markers (= 8 decs per row) every other row – see knitting tips above – 15-15-16-16-16 times and then every row 0-2-2-4-6 times. Neck: When the piece measures 37-39-41-43-45 cm put the center 12-14-14-16-16 sts on a st holder for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2-0-0-0-0 times and 1 st 2-6-6-6-6 times. After all raglan and neck shaping is complete 48-42-54-52-56 sts remain on needles. Neckband: Pick up approx. 24-30 sts (incl. sts from st holder) in front neck with pink and put all sts on smaller double-pointed needles = approx. 66-86 sts; join and place a marker at the join. K 1 row, adjusting (inc/dec as needed) to 65-72-72-78-80 sts. Knit 5 rows stockinette st and bind off loosely. So that the bound-off edge will not be too tight, make a yo approx. every 4 sts and bind off the yo as a st. Assembly: Sew opening under the sleeve. GRANNY SQUARE: Crochet gauge: 1 crocheted square with 6 rows measures approx. 18 x 18 cm. Row color pattern: 1st row = persimmon 2nd row = apricot 3rd row = beige 4th row = light pink 5th row = pink 6th row = hot pink. Repeat these 6 rows. Crochet tip: Replace the first dc at the start of each row with ch 3. Granny Square: Ch 4 with persimmon and join into a ring with 1 sl st. Follow stripe instructions above. 1st row: * 3 dc in ring, ch 2 *, repeat * - * a total of 4 times and finish with 1 sl st in ch 3 at start of row, Cut yarn and fasten. 2nd row: Ch 4, * 3 dc in the next ch-loop, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch-loop, ch 1 * repeat * - * a total of 3 times and finish with 3 dc in last ch-loop, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch-loop and 1 sl st in ch 3 at start of row, Cut yarn and fasten. 3rd row: * 3 dc in the next ch-loop, ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch-loop, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch-loop, ch 1 *, repeat * - * a total of 3 times and finish with 3 dc in the next ch-loop, ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch-loop, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch-loop, ch 1 and 1 sl st in ch 3 at start of row. Cut yarn and fasten. Continue in this manner, increasing 2 dc-groups in each corner with ch 2 between these dc-groups, and 1 dc-group in every other ch-loop with ch 1 between. Cut yarn and fasten. When square measures 15x15 - 15x15 - 18x18 - 18x18 - 21x21 cm cut yarn and fasten. Sew Granny square into opening in center front, edge to edge with the garter sts at edge. |
