---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1, work A.1. END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work A.1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. DECREASE TIP-1: All decreases are done from the right side. AFTER BAND (the decreased stitch is twisted to the left): Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 1 stitch decreased). BEFORE BAND (the decreased stitch is twisted to the right): Work until 2 stitches remain before band, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased). DECREASE TIP-2: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). BUTTONHOLES: Bind off for buttonholes on right band from right side (band = 7 stitches): ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 3rd and 4th stitch from the edge mid front together, make 1 yarn over, then continue stitches from front piece as before. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and purl yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole when piece measures 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛", then decrease for buttonholes when piece measures: XS: 7½-13-18½ and 24 cm = 2⅞"-5⅛"-7⅛" and 9½". S: 8-14-20 and 26 cm = 3⅛"-5½"-8" and 10¼". M: 8-14-20 and 26 cm = 3⅛"-5½"-8" and 10¼". L: 8½-15-21½ and 28 cm = 3¼"-6"-8⅜" and 11". XL: 8-13-18-23 and 28 cm = 3⅛"-5⅛"-7"-9" and 11". XXL: 8½-14-19½-25 and 30 cm = 3¼"-5½"-7⅝"-9¾" and 11¾". XXXL: 8½-14-19½-25 and 30 cm = 3¼"-5½"-7⅝"-9¾" and 11¾". KNITTING TIP: When working short rows there will be a small hole when turning the piece - the hole can be closed by tightening the yarn or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip first stitch purlwise. Place strand over right needle and tighten well at the back (should lead to two loops on needle). Work these loops together on next row. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work piece back and forth on needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Divide the piece for front pieces and back piece and finish each part separately. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up stitches for sleeves around the armholes and work sleeves downwards. First work back and forth with short rows to form a sleeve cap, then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Sew bands from each front piece together, seam = mid back, then fasten band to stitches at the back of the neck. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. BODY: Cast on 235-251-267-283-315-347-379 stitches on circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 with DROPS Cotton Light. Work first row as follows from right side: Work 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above, work rib (knit 1, purl 1) until 8 stitches remain on row, knit 1 and 7 stitches band with I-cord. Work until rib measures 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛" and next row is worked from the wrong side. On next row (= the wrong side) decrease 27-29-31-33-37-41-45 stitches as follows: Work 7 stitches band as before, * purl 6, purl 2 together *, work from *-* 27-29-31-33-37-41-45 times in total, purl 5 and 7 stitches band as before = 208-222-236-250-278-306-334 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread 55-58-62-65-72-79-86 stitches in from each side (= in each side of body - there are 98-106-112-120-134-148-162 stitches between marker threads on back piece). Move the marker threads upwards when working, marker threads should be used when binding off for armholes. Switch to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work PATTERN - read explanation above and work as follows from the right side: 7 stitches band as before, work A.2 until 12 stitches remain, work first 5 stitches in A.2 (so that pattern begins and end the same), work 7 stitches band as before – remember BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above. Continue pattern like this. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Work until piece measures 25-27-27-29-29-31-31 cm = 9¾"-10⅝"-10⅝"-11⅜"-11⅜"-12¼"-12¼". Now begin decrease for V-neck - i.e. approx. 1 cm = ⅜" have been worked after last buttonhole on right band. Cast also off and divide for armholes later. Therefore, read all of the following section below before continuing! DIVISION AT ARMHOLES: AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 26-28-29-30-31-32-33 cm = 10¼"-11"-11⅜"-11¾"-12¼"-12½"-13", divide piece for front pieces and back piece, and work this row as follows from the right side: Work as before until 2-2-3-4-4-5-6 stitches remain before first marker thread (= front piece including band - remember decrease for V-neck), bind off the next 4-5-6-9-9-11-13 stitches for armhole, work as before over the next 94-100-106-110-124-136-148 stitches, i.e. 2-3-3-5-5-6-7 stitches remain before next marker thread (= back piece), bind off the next 4-5-6-9-9-11-13 stitches for armhole and work as before over the last stitches (= front piece including band - remember decrease for V-neck). Finish front pieces and back piece separately. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Continue with pattern and band back and forth as before – work first row from the wrong side. AT SAME TIME bind off stitches for armholes in the side on every other row as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 0-1-2-2-2-3-5 times and 1 stitch 1-2-3-5-5-9-11 times. After all decreases for armholes and V-neck, 40 stitches remain on row in all sizes. Continue pattern and band as before but work the outermost 3 stitches towards the armhole in stockinette stitch. Work until piece measures 44-46-48-50-52-54-56 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22". On next row from the right side bind off as follows: Bind off 33 stitches for shoulder = 7 stitches band remain, work the rest as before over these 7 stitches. LEFT BAND: = 7 stitches. Continue band and pattern as before but work the outermost 3 stitches towards the armhole in stockinette stitch. Work until piece measures 44-46-48-50-52-54-56 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22". On next row from the wrong side bind off as follows: Bind off 33 stitches for shoulder = 7 stitches band remain, work the rest as before over these 7 stitches. RIGHT BAND: = 7 stitches. Continue pattern back and forth as before. AT THE SAME TIME bind off stitches for armholes in each side on every other row as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 0-1-2-2-2-3-5 times in each side and 1 stitch 1-2-3-5-5-9-11 times in each side = 92-92-92-106-106-106 stitches. Continue pattern forth and back as before but work the outermost 3 stitches in each side in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 41-43-45-47-49-51-53 cm = 16⅛"-17"-17¾"-18½"-19¼"-20"-21", bind off the middle 22-22-22-22-36-36-36 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. SHOULDER: Continue pattern as before and bind off 2 stitches on next row from the neck = 33 stitches remain on the shoulder for all sizes. Bind off when piece measures 44-46-48-50-52-54-56 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22". ASSEMBLY-1: Sew the shoulder seams. SLEEVES: Sleeve is worked from the armhole and down. Place piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of armhole = mid on top shoulder. Use circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and tightly pick up stitches (use a thinner needle if needed). PICK UP STITCHES AS FOLLOWS: Begin in the middle of the stitches cast on under sleeve - pick up 66-68-72-76-82-88-94 stitches – adjust to pick up same number of stitches on each side of marker. SLEEVE CAP: To get a better shape work stockinette stitch with short rows back and forth over sleeve cap, begin round mid under sleeve and work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 6-6-8-6-8-6-5 stitches past marker on top of the shoulder, turn piece – read KNITTING TIP. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 6-6-8-6-8-6-5 stitches past marker, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Work 3-2-2-2-2-2-2 stitches past where the previous turn was, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work 3-2-2-2-2-2-2 stitches past where the previous turn was, turn piece. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4. Work until 16-20-22-28-28-34-42 turns have been done in total (= 8-10-11-14-14-17-21 times in each side and last row is worked from the wrong side). AFTER LAST TURN: The last time 4th row is worked finish row by turning piece, then work from right side until beginning of round (= mid under sleeve). Insert 1 marker thread mid under sleeve, marker thread is used when decreasing stitches under sleeve. Move marker thread upwards when working. THE SLEEVE ONWARDS: Now work in the round in stockinette stitch over all stitches while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing under sleeve, read DECREASE TIP-2 and decrease as follows: When 1 round has been worked, decrease 2 stitches = 64-66-70-74-80-86-92 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 18-19-20-21-18-19-20 cm = 7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-7"-7½"-8" from mid on top shoulder. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 4-6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches evenly on 1st round = 68-72-76-80-88-94-102 stitches. When rib measures 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 20-21-22-23-21-22-23 cm = 8"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-8¼"-8¾"-9" from mid on top of the shoulder. ASSEMBLY-2: Sew bands from each front piece together - seam = mid back, then fasten band to stitches at the back of the neck (sew inside 1 stitch). Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
