---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT BAND WITH I-CORD: RIGHT SIDE: Purl 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. WRONG SIDE: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 2. LEFT BAND WITH I-CORD: RIGHT SIDE: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and purl 1. WRONG SIDE: Knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. RAGLAN: All increases are done from the right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE MARKER (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. AFTER MARKER (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop that is in front the needle - to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. WRAP: All increases are done from the right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, increase inside 4 stitches in each side of piece (i.e. inside 3 stitches band and knit 1). On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: AT BEGINNING OF ROW (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop that is in front the needle - to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. AT THE END OF ROW (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Begin 3 stitches before marker and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. First work right band back and forth on needle, then pick up stitches in cast-on edge for left band, and finish band back and forth on needle. When the band is done, pick up stitches for yoke along the band. Work yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down with increases for raglan and wrap. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by working a belt. RIGHT BAND WITH I-CORD: Cast on 3 stitches on double pointed needle size 8 MM = US 11 with 1 strand DROPS Air + 1 strand DROPS Melody (= 2 strands) Work RIGHT BAND WITH I-CORD back and forth – read explanation above. Work until band measures approx. 12-12½-13-13½-13½-13½-14 cm = 4¾"-5"-5⅛"-5⅜"-5⅜"-5⅜"-5½" - work last row from wrong side. Cut the yarn and leave stitches on a thread. LEFT BAND WITH I-CORD: Pick up 3 stitches along the cast-on edge on right band with double pointed needles size 8 MM = US 11 and 1 strand in each quality (= 2 strands) - make sure that purl stitches seen from the right side are against each other in one side and I-cord stitches are against each other in the other side. Later pick up stitches for yoke along the bands inside outermost loop of purl stitch from right side. Work LEFT BAND WITH I-CORD back and forth – read explanation above. Work until band measures approx. 12-12½-13-13½-13½-13½-14 cm = 4¾"-5"-5⅛"-5⅜"-5⅜"-5⅜"-5½" - work last row from wrong side. Band measures 24-25-26-27-27-27-28 cm = 9½"-9¾"-10¼"-10⅝"-10⅝"-10⅝"-11" in total (cast-on edge is in the middle of band). Now pick up stitches along the entire band inside outermost loop of purl stitch on next row from right side as follows: Work left band with I-cord as before (= 3 stitches band), pick up 29-30-31-32-32-32-33 stitches along band - adjust to pick up approx. same number of stitches on each side of band (i.e. on each side of cast-on edge), finish by working right band with I-cord as before (= 3 stitches band) = 35-36-37-38-38-38-39 stitches. Purl 1 row from wrong side with 3 stitches band as before in each side. Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Count 4 stitches (= left front piece), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 5 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 13-14-15-16-16-16-17 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 5 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 4 stitches remain on row for right front piece. Now work in stockinette stitch back and forth with 3 stitches band as before in each side while at the same time increasing for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches every other row and for WRAP inside 4 stitches in each side every 4th row - read explanation above on how to increase and work as explained below. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! ROW 1 (= right side): Work 3 stitches band, work in stockinette stitch until 3 stitches remain on needle while at the same time increasing for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches, work 3 stitches band (= 8 stitches increased for raglan). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 3 stitches band, work in stockinette stitch until 3 stitches remain on row (remember to work stitches as explained in raglan), work 3 stitches band. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 15-15-17-17-18-18-18 times in total (= 30-30-34-34-36-36-36 rows worked) - AT THE SAME TIME increase for WRAP inside 4 stitches in each side every 4th row (NOTE: First increase for wrap is done when increasing for raglan for the 2nd time). 15-15-17-17-18-18-18 increases have been done on front pieces/back piece, 15-15-17-17-18-18-18 increases have been done on sleeves and 7-7-8-8-9-9-9 increases have been done for wrap = 169-170-189-190-200-200-201 stitches on needle. Increases are no longer done on sleeves. Increase for front pieces and back piece every other row as before while at the same time continuing to increase for wrap. Work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 3 stitches band, work in stockinette stitch until 3 stitches remain on needle while at the same time increasing for raglan on front pieces and back piece, work 3 stitches band (= 4 stitches increased for raglan). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 3 stitches band, work in stockinette stitch until 3 stitches remain on row (remember to work stitches as explained in raglan), work 3 stitches band. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 1-2-1-2-2-4-6 times in total (= 2-4-2-4-4-8-12 rows worked) - AT THE SAME TIME increase for WRAP inside 4 stitches in each side every 4th row as before. 16-17-18-19-20-22-24 increases have been done on front pieces/back piece, 15-15-17-17-18-18-18 increases have been done on sleeves and 8-8-9-9-10-11-12 increases have been done for wrap = 175-180-195-200-210-220-231 stitches on needle. All increases for raglan and wrap are now done. Piece measures approx. 23-24-26-27-29-31-34 cm = 9"-9½"-10¼"-10⅝"-11⅜"-12¼"-13⅜" from marker mid back. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 3 stitches band, work 26-27-29-30-32-35-38 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 35-35-39-39-41-41-41 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 4-6-6-8-10-12-14 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 47-50-53-56-58-62-67 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 35-35-39-39-41-41-41 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 4-6-6-8-10-12-14 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work 26-27-29-30-32-35-38 stitches as before, work 3 stitches band (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 113-122-129-138-148-162-177 stitches. Work stockinette stitch and bands as before until piece measures 49-51-53-55-57-59-61 cm = 19¼"-20"-21"-21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24" from mid back. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 30-31-34-35-37-39-42 stitches evenly on 1st row (do not increase over bands) = 143-153-163-173-185-201-219 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 6 MM = US 10, work band as before, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1 - remember increase) until 4 stitches remain, knit 1 and band as before. When rib measures 3 cm = 1⅛", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jacket measures 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from mid back and approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 35-35-39-39-41-41-41 sleeve stitches from one thread on needle size 8 MM = US 11 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 4-6-6-8-10-12-14 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 39-41-45-47-51-53-55 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 4-6-6-8-10-12-14 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stockinette stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 3 cm = 1⅛" from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 0-0-10-10-8-8-8 cm = 0"-0"-4"-4"-3⅛"-3⅛"-3⅛" 1-1-2-2-3-3-3 times in total = 37-39-41-43-45-47-49 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 40-40-39-38-37-36-34 cm = 15¾"-15¾"-15¼"-15"-14½"-14¼"-13⅜" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 6 MM = US 10 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 11-11-11-13-13-13-15 stitches evenly on 1st round = 48-50-52-56-58-60-64 stitches. When rib measures 3 cm = 1⅛", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 43-43-42-41-40-39-37 cm = 17"-17"-16½"-16⅛"-15¾"-15¼"-14½" from division. BELT: Use double pointed needle size 8 MM = US 11 and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands), cast on 4 stitches and knit 1 row. Work a tube with 4 stitches as follows: * Move all stitches to the right side of needle without turning piece, tighten yarn and knit over all stitches *, repeat from *-* until belt measures approx. 160-170-185-200-215-230-255 cm = 63"-67-72⅞"-78¾"-90½"-100⅜". Tie the belt around the waist, thread the belt through a few stitches in each side of body. |
