---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece. END OF ROW: Work band as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain on needle, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Work the same way both from right side and wrong side. RAGLAN: All increases are done from the right side. BEFORE MARKER: Work until 2 stitches remain until marker. Slip 1 stitch on cable needle behind piece, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and knit 1 from cable needle (= 1 stitch increased). Purl yarn over twisted on next row. AFTER MARKER: Slip 1 stitch on cable needle in front of piece, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and knit 1 from cable needle (= 1 stitch increased). Purl yarn over twisted on next row. BUTTONHOLES: Make buttonhole from right side on right band (when garment is worn), work until 3 stitches remain on row and make the buttonhole as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, work band as before. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before, purl yarn over twisted together with next stitch, the yarn over becomes a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 5-5-6-6-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 8½-9-7½-8-8-7-7 cm = 3¼"-3½"-2⅞"-3⅛"-3⅛"-2¾"-2¾" apart. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). When decreasing 1 stitch, decrease alternately before and after marker thread. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. If 0 stitches is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. NECK EDGE: Cast on 45-45-49-49-55-55-59 stitches on circular needle size 7 MM = US 10.75 with 1 strand DROPS Polaris or 2 strands DROPS Snow - you can use Italian cast-on. Work first row from wrong side as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above rib (= purl 1/knit 1) until 4 stitches remain, purl 1 and band with I-cord. ROW 2 (= right side): Work band with I-cord, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) until 4 stitches remain, knit 1 and band with I-cord. Work as 1st and 2nd row until neck edge measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2"-2", adjust so that next row is from right side. Insert a marker inside band in one side, measure piece from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch; these stitches are called raglan stitches. Count 9-9-9-9-11-11-11 stitches (= front piece), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 5-5-7-7-7-7-9 stitches (= sleeve piece), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 13-13-13-13-15-15-15 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 5-5-7-7-7-7-9 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 9-9-9-9-11-11-11 stitches remain on row for right front piece. ROW 1 (= right side): Work 3 band stitches as before, work stockinette stitch while at the same time increasing 0-1-1-1-1-2-2 stitches evenly over each front piece and 0-2-2-2-2-4-4 stitches evenly over back piece, finish with 3 band stitches as before = 45-49-53-53-59-63-67 stitches - remember to decease for BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work stockinette stitch and bands as before. Switch to circular needle size 12 MM = US 17 and work next row while increasing for RAGLAN - read explanation above for increase method, work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work in stockinette stitch and bands as before and increase for raglan on each side of stitches with marker (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work stockinette stitch and band as before - purl yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 8-8-8-10-10-10-8 times in total (= 16-16-16-20-20-20-16 rows have been worked) = 109-113-117-133-139-143-131 stitches on needle. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Then work and increase as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work stockinette stitch and bands as before and increase for raglan on front pieces and back piece, i.e. increase before 1st and 3rd marker and after 2nd and 4th marker - do no increase on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work stockinette stitch and band as before - purl yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. ROW 3 (= right side): Work stockinette stitch and bands as before and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work stockinette stitch and band as before - purl yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Work 1st to 4th ROW 2-2-2-2-2-2-4 times in total (= 8-8-8-8-8-8-16 rows have been worked = 2-2-2-2-2-2-4 increases on sleeves and 4-4-4-4-4-4-8 increases on front pieces/back piece) = 133-137-141-157-163-167-179 stitches. All increases for raglan are done, 12-12-12-14-14-14-16 increases have been done in total on front pieces/back piece and 10-10-10-12-12-12-12 increases on sleeves. Work in stockinette stitch and bands as before, without increasing, until piece measures approx. 22-23-23-25-26-27-29 cm = 8¾"-9"-9"-9¾"-10¼"-10⅝"-11⅜" from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeve the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 22-23-23-25-27-28-30 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 25-25-27-31-31-31-33 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work 39-41-41-45-47-49-53 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 25-25-27-31-31-31-33 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 22-23-23-25-27-28-30 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 87-91-99-107-117-125-133 stitches. Work stockinette stitch and bands as before until piece measures 44-47-48-49-51-53-52 cm = 17¼"-18½"-19"-19¼"-20"-21"-20½" from marker mid front. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 20-22-24-26-28-30-32 stitches evenly on 1st row = 107-113-123-133-145-155-165 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 7 MM = US 10.75, work 3 band stitches as before, rib (= knit 1/purl 1 - remember increase) until 4 stitches remain, knit 1 and 3 band stitches as before. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-6 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2"-2⅜", bind off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jacket measures 48-51-52-54-56-58-58 cm = 19"-20"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-22¾" from marker mid front and approx. 51-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 20"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 25-25-27-31-31-31-33 sleeve stitches from one thread on to double pointed needles/circular needle size 12 MM = US 17 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 27-27-33-37-39-41-43 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stockinette stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 cm = ⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜" from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 0-0-1-2-2-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 1 stitch alternately before and after marker thread every 14-15-7-4-3½-4½-3 cm = 5½"-6"-2¾"-1½"-1¼"-1⅝"-1⅛" 3-3-5-7-8-6-8 times in total = 24-24-26-26-27-29-29 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 38-39-40-38-37-37-35 cm = 15"-15¼"-15¾"-15"-14½"-14½"-13¾" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 7 MM = US 10.75 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6-5-6-6-7-7-7 stitches evenly on 1st round = 30-30-32-32-34-36-36 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-6 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2"-2⅜", bind off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 42-43-44-43-42-42-41 cm = 16½"-17"-17¼"-17"-16½"-16½"-16⅛" from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
