---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 5 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows: Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Work the same way both from right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 3-3-4-4-4-4 buttonholes, approx. 7-8-6½-7½-8-8½ cm = 2¾"-3⅛"-2½"-2⅞"-3⅛"-3¼" apart. Place bottom buttonhole in the transition between stockinette stitch and rib. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern long and short needles have been used, begin with fitting length and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, and work top down. When yoke is done, divide stitches for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 96-104-112-112-116-116 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 with DROPS Safran or DROPS Baby Merino. Work rib as follows from right side: 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above - * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until 9 stitches remain, knit 2 and 7 stitches band with I-cord. Continue rib back and forth like this for 2½ to 3 cm = 1" to 1⅛", adjust after a row from wrong side. Insert 1 marker on the inside of band, measure yoke from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4. Knit 1 row from right side while increasing 2-1-0-0-3-3 stitches evenly (do not increase over bands) 98-105-112-112-119-119 stitches. Then work in stockinette stitch back and forth with 7 stitches band in each side as before - read BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! When yoke measures 2 cm = ¾" from marker, work PATTERN - read explanation above, i.e. work first row as follows from right side: 7 stitches band as before, work A.1 12-13-14-14-15-15 times in total, finish with 7 stitches band as before. Continue pattern like this. When A.1 has been worked, there are 242-261-280-280-299-299 stitches on needle. Continue to work with 7 stitches band in each side and repeat the last 6 rows in diagram until piece measures approx. 12-13-14-15-16-17 cm = 4¾"-5⅛"-5½"-6"-6¼"-6¾" from marker. Then work 1 row in stockinette stitch with 7 stitches band in each side as before, on this row adjust number of stitches to 246-258-274-278-294-306. Continue to work stockinette stitch and band stitches as before until piece measures 13-14-15-16-17-18 cm = 5⅛"-5½"-6"-6¼"-6¾"-7" from marker mid front. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Now divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 40-42-45-46-49-51 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 50-52-54-54-56-58 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on needle (in the side under sleeve), work 66-70-76-78-84-88 stitches in stockinette stitch (= back piece), slip the next 50-52-54-54-56-58 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on needle (in the side under sleeve) and work the last 40-42-45-46-49-51 stitches as before (front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 158-166-178-186-198-206 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch back and forth with 7 stitches band in each side as before until piece measures 22-25-26-30-33-35 cm = 8¾"-9¾"-10¼"-11¾"-13"-13¾" from marker mid front. On next row from right side begin rib, AT THE SAME TIME increase 22-26-26-30-30-30 stitches evenly on row (do not increase over bands) = 180-192-204-216-228-236 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5, work band as before, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2 - remember increase) until 7 stitches remain, knit 2 and band as before. When rib measures 3 cm = 1⅛" bind off. Jacket measures approx. 28-31-34-37-40-42 cm = 11"-12¼"-13⅜"-14½"-15¾"-16½" from shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 50-52-54-54-56-58 sleeve stitches from one thread on to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under sleeve. = 56-58-60-62-64-66 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round until sleeve measures 2-2-4-5-5-6 cm = ¾"-¾"-1½"-2"-2"-2⅜" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 0-2-0-2-0-2 stitches evenly on 1st round = 56-60-60-64-64-68 stitches. When rib measures 3 cm = 1⅛" bind off. Sleeve measures approx. 5-5-7-8-8-9 cm = 2"-2"-2¾"-3⅛"-3⅛"-3½" from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons on to the left band. |
