Hi i want to ask about the increase in the row 3, which are stated for front and back pieces only not on the sleeves, but I’m confuse a little bit for the front and back pieces, can i know which marker are the front and back pieces that need to be increase, thank you, -i’m beginner in knitting actually-

Hi Imran, The left front piece is before marker 1, then the sleeve between markers 1 and 2, the back piece is between markers 2 and 3, the sleeve between markers 3 and 4, and the right front piece after marker 4. When only increasing on the front and back pieces, you increase before marker 1, after marker 2, before marker 3 and after marker 4. Regards, Drops team.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD BEGINNING OF ROW: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. Work in the same way from both the right and wrong side. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next row: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH: Purl the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stockinette stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the needle from the back when replacing it). Purl the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stockinette stitch. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band (when garment is worn) from the right side as follows, when there are 5 stitches left on the row. ROW 1 (right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work the band as before, knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked on the first row from the right side after the neck is finished. Then work the other 4-4-5-5-5-5 buttonholes with 10½-11-9-9½-10-10 cm = 4⅛"-4⅜"-3½"-3⅝"-4"-4" between each one. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. NECK: Cast on 109-115-117-123-131-133 stitches with circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5, 1 strand DROPS Flora and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work as follows from the wrong side: 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD, purl until there are 7 stitches left, work 7 stitches according to bands with I-cord. Continue as follows: Right side: Work the 7 band stitches, rib (knit 1, purl 1) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1, 7 band stitches. Wrong side: Work the 7 band stitches, rib (purl 1, knit 1) until there are 8 stitches left, purl 1, 7 band stitches. Work these 2 rows 1 more time = 4 ribbed rows. Work stockinette stitch with 7 band stitches on each side for 1½ cm = ½". The neck measures 3 to 4 cm = 1⅛" to 1½". YOKE: Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches, inserting the markers in stitches which are now called raglan-stitches and are always worked in stockinette stitch. Count 20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches (= left front piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 19 stitches (= sleeve), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 27-29-31-33-37-39 stitches (= back piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 19 stitches (= sleeve), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, there are 20-22-22-24-26-26 stitches left after the last marker (= right front piece). Insert 1 marker inside 1 band; the piece is now measured from here. You now increase for RAGLAN and work the first BUTTONHOLE on the next row - read descriptions above, working as follows: ROW 1: Change to circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7. Continue the bands and stockinette stitch, increasing for raglan on each side of each raglan-stitch (= 8 increased stitches). ROW 2. Work back as before (remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN). Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 3-3-8-9-8-7 times (= 6-6-16-18-16-14 rows worked) = 133-139-181-195-195-189 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. Now increase for raglan as follows: ROW 1: Continue with stockinette stitch and the bands, increasing for raglan on each side of each raglan-stitch (= 8 increased stitches). ROW 2. Work stockinette stitch and the bands as before. ROW 3: Work stockinette stitch and the bands, increasing for raglan only on the front and back pieces (= 4 stitches increased), do not increase on the sleeves. ROW 4: Work stockinette stitch and the bands as before. Work ROWS 1 to 4 a total of 11-12-10-11-13-15 times (= 44-48-40-44-52-60 rows worked = you have increased 11-12-10-11-13-15 times on sleeves and 22-24-20-22-26-30 times on the front and back pieces) = 265-283-301-327-351-369 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished: A total of 25-27-28-31-34-37 times on the front and back pieces, 14-15-18-20-21-22 times on sleeves. Continue with stockinette stitch and the bands without increasing until the yoke measures 21-23-24-27-29-32 cm = 8¼"-9"-9½"-10⅝"-11⅜"-12½" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work 46-50-51-56-61-64 stitches as before (= front piece), place the next 47-49-55-59-61-63 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches (under sleeve), work 79-85-89-97-107-115 stitches (= back piece), place the next 47-49-55-59-61-63 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches (under sleeve), work the last 46-50-51-56-61-64 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 191-209-219-241-265-283 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and the bands until the piece measures 42-44-46-48-50-52 cm = 16½"-17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½" from the marker mid-front. On the next row from the wrong side begin the rib, increasing 20-20-22-24-26-28 stitches evenly spaced as follows (do not increase across the bands) = 211-229-241-265-291-311 stitches: Change to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5, work the band as before, rib (knit 1, purl 1 – remember to increase) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 and work the band as before. When the rib measures 3 cm = 1⅛", bind off. The jacket measures approx. 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm = 17¾"-18½"-19¼"-20"-21"-21⅝" from the marker and 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 47-49-55-59-61-63 sleeve-stitches from 1 thread on circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7. Knit up 1 stitch in each of the 10-12-14-16-18-20 cast-on stitches under the sleeve = 57-61-69-75-79-83 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 19-18-19-16-16-13 cm = 7½"-7"-7½"-6¼"-6¼"-5⅛". Change to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work 4 rounds of rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increasing 7-7-7-7-7-7 stitches evenly on round 1 = 64-68-76-82-86-90 stitches. Knit 1 round. Bind off with knit. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
