Bon tricot!

In this pattern it says 2 strands, does that mean i need 2 different balls of yarn and knit from 2 balls?
02.11.2024 - 20:47DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eli, yes, 2 strands is 2 strands together when working. So you take 1 strand of DROPS Nord and 1 strand of DROPS Kid-Silk and work the piece with both of them together. Happy knitting!

Hi team, please may you advise what is the circumference of the glove for the two sizes ? I'm not sure which size I should knit for my hands
27.09.2024 - 07:26DROPS Design answered:
Hi Angela, With a knitting tension of 20 stitches = 10 cm when working stocking stitch, the S/M size will have a cuff circumference of approx. 25 cm (as rib is tighter than stocking stitch) and a hand circumference of 17 cm. The M/L size will have approx. 28 cm cuff and 20 cm hand. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is knitted twisted on the next round to avoid a hole. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- GLOVES - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, from the wrist upwards. LEFT GLOVE: Cast on 60-65 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and 1 strand DROPS Nord and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands). Knit 2 rounds, then work rib (knit 2, purl 3). When the piece measures 9-10 cm = 3½"-4", knit 1 round and decrease 24-23 stitches evenly spaced = 36-42 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work stockinette stitch in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 12-13 cm = 4¾"-5⅛", start to increase for the thumb. Increase 1 stitch on each side of the next-to-last stitch on the round – read INCREASE TIP. Increase on the outside of the previously increased stitches, every 3rd round, 4-5 more times = 46-54 stitches. When the piece measures 17-18 cm = 6¾"-7", place the 11-13 thumb-stitches on a thread. Cast on 1 stitch behind the thumb stitches = 36-42 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round until the piece measures 21-22 cm = 8¼"-8¾". Place the first 15-17 stitches on a thread (top of hand), keep the next 7-9 stitches on the needles for the little finger and place the last 14-16 stitches on a second thread (palm). LITTLE FINGER: = 7-9 stitches. Cast on 3 stitches towards the stitches on the threads = 10-12 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 5½-6 cm = 2⅛"-2⅜". On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 5-6 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. HAND: Place the stitches from the threads back on the needles and knit up 3 stitches towards the little finger = 32-36 stitches. Knit 2 rounds. Keep the 3 knitted-up stitches and 4-5 stitches on each side of these on the needles. Place the other stitches back on their respective threads (11-12 stitches on top of hand and 10-11 on the palm). RING FINGER: = 11-13 stitches. Cast on 1 stitch towards the stitches on the threads = 12-14 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 7-8 cm = 2¾"-3⅛". On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 6-7 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. LONG FINGER: Place 5-6 stitches from the hand and 4-5 stitches from the palm back on the needles and knit up 2 stitches towards the ring finger and 2 stitches towards the threads = 13-15 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 7½-8½ cm = 2⅞"-3¼". On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 until there is 1 stitch left, knit 1 = 7-8 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. INDEXFINGER: Place the remaining 12-12 stitches from the threads back on the needles and knit up 2-3 stitches towards the long finger = 14-15 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 6½-7½ cm = 2½"-2⅞" . On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 until there is 0-1 stitch left, knit 0-1 = 7-8 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. THUMB: Place the thumb-stitches on the needles and knit up 4 stitches along the edge behind the thumb = 15-17 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 5½-6 cm = 2⅛"-2⅜". On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 until there is 1 stitch left, knit 1 = 8-9 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. RIGHT GLOVE: Work in the same way as the left glove but increase for the thumb on each side of the 2nd stitch at the beginning of the round. When dividing for the little finger, place the first 14-16 stitches on a thread (palm), keep the next 7-9 stitches on the needles and place the last 15-17 stitches on a second thread (top of hand). Then finish in the same way as the left glove. |
