Hallo!

This doesn't pertain to the pattern itself, but I would like to print off the pattern to keep notes but the pattern photo pops up without any pattern notation, just the pictures of the purple/black socks. Hopefully it's just a formatting error - Thanks!

Dear Mrs Lowrie, click on "Print" then choose "pattern" to open a new window, check your printer settings then launch printing. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. INCREASE TIP: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. Repeat at the other marker. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round from the toe up, then divided for the opening and worked back and forth until the heel is finished. The heel is sewn together then the toe. Stitches are knitted up around the opening and the leg is worked in the round to finish. SLIPPER: Cast on 16-18-20 stitches with double pointed needles size 4.5 MM = US 7 and color black DROPS Alaska. Knit 1 round. Insert 2 markers, without working the stitches, as follows: Count 5-5-6 stitches and insert 1 marker before the next stitch, count 7-9-9 stitches and insert 1 marker before the next stitch. The beginning of the round is mid-under the foot (there are 7-9-9 stitches on top of the foot and 9-9-11 stitches under the foot). Insert 1 marker-thread in the middle of the 7-9-9 stitches on top of the foot and allow it to follow your work onwards. Work stockinette in the round and increase on each side of both markers - read INCREASE TIP. Repeat this increase every 2nd round 4 more times = 36-38-40 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch, without further increases, until the piece measures 4-5-6 cm = 1½"-2"-2⅜". Now work pattern according to diagram A.1 – find your size in the diagram. Make sure the marked stitch in the diagram matches the marker-thread on top of the foot. When A.1 is finished, work the rest of the slipper with color midnight blue. Continue with stockinette stitch until the piece measures 11½-12½-14 cm = 4⅝"-5"-5½". Knit 1 round and bind off the mid-stitch on top of the foot = 35-37-39 stitches. Work to where the stitch was bind off then continue back and forth. Work GARTER STITCH – read description above, until the piece measures 22-24-27 cm = 8¾"-9½"-10⅝" from the cast-on edge. Bind off with knit, leaving a strand-length of 20 cm = 8" (for use when assembling). ASSEMBLY: Fold the bind-off edge double, use the long strand and sew together mid-back, sewing in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. Use color black to sew together the opening in the toe, laying the top layer over the bottom so the seam is neat when the slipper is worn. LEG: Use color midnight blue and double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6. Knit up 44-48-52 stitches around the opening (the stitch count must be divisible by 4). Make sure you also knit up mid-front to avoid a hole. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 12-13-14 cm = 4¾"-5⅛"-5½". Bind off with rib. EMBROIDERY: Use a left-over color mustard and work grafting stitch over the stitches which are the eyes on the cats. |
