------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows seen from the right side. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch before/after A.1, in each transition between the body and sleeves. Increase by making 1 yarn over: Yarn overs worked from the wrong side. BEFORE A.1: Purl the back loop – no hole. AFTER A.1: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle in the back when replacing it). Purl the front loop – no hole. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker-stitch as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-stitch, knit 2 together, knit 3 (marker-stitch is the middle of these 3 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 4 stitches left on the row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together and knit 2. On the next row (wrong side), knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked on the first row from the right side after the rib. Then work the other 4-4-5-5-6-6 buttonholes with approx. 11-11-9½-10-8½-9 cm = 4⅜"-4⅜"-3 5/9"-4"-3¼"-3½" between each one. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle. DOUBLE NECK: Cast on 76-88-88-92-92-104 stitches with circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and DROPS Air. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work as follows from the right side: 1 GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there are 3 stitches left, knit 2 and 1 garter stitch. Continue this rib for 8 cm = 3⅛". At the end of the next 2 rows, cast on 5 stitches – now continue the rib with 6 band stitches in garter stitch on each side (the rib starts and finishes with knit-2 by each band) = 86-98-98-102-102-114 stitches. Continue working until the rib measures 16 cm = 6¼". Work as follows from the right side: 6 band stitches in garter stitch, stockinette stitch over the next 10-14-14-14-14-18 stitches and increase 1-0-0-2-3-2 stitches evenly spaced (= 11-14-14-16-17-20 stitches), work A.1 over the next 6 stitches, stockinette stitch over the next 6 stitches and increase 1 stitch (= 7 stitches), work A.1 over the next 6 stitches, stockinette stitch over the next 18-22-22-26-26-30 stitches and increase 5-7-7-7-9-11 stitches evenly spaced (= 23-29-29-33-35-41 stitches), work A.1 over the next 6 stitches, stockinette stitch over the next 6 stitches and increase 1 stitch (= 7 stitches), work A.1 over the next 6 stitches, stockinette stitch over the next 10-14-14-14-14-18 stitches and increase 1-0-0-2-3-2 stitches evenly spaced (= 11-14-14-16-17-20 stitches), 6 band stitches in garter stitch – remember the BUTTONHOLES on the right band – read description above. = 95-107-107-115-119-131 stitches. Work 1 row back from the wrong side. Insert 1 marker after the band, the yoke is measured from here! YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. On the next row from the right side start to increase for RAGLAN – read description above, and work as follows: 6 band stitches in garter stitch, 11-14-14-16-17-20 stockinette stitches (left front piece), A.1, 7 stockinette stitches (sleeve), A.1, 23-29-29-33-35-41 stockinette stitches (back piece), A.1, 7 stockinette stitches (sleeve), A.1, 11-14-14-16-17-20 stockinette stitches (right front piece) and 6 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern and increase every 2nd row (each row from the right side) 18-20-23-24-25-27 times = 239-267-291-307-319-347 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! The sleeve increases are now finished. Continue to increase on the front and back pieces 2-1-1-1-2-3 more times (= 18-20-23-24-25-27 increases on each side of the sleeves and 20-21-24-25-27-30 increases towards the raglan-lines on the front and back pieces) = 247-271-295-311-327-359 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and A.1, without further increases, until the yoke measures 20-20-22-24-26-28 cm = 8"-8"-8¾"-9½"-10¼"-11" from the marker on the neck. Now divide for the body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 40-44-47-50-53-59 stitches (front piece), place the next 49-53-59-61-63-67 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 9-9-9-11-11-11 stitches (in side under sleeve), work the next 69-77-83-89-95-107 stitches (back piece), place the next 49-53-59-61-63-67 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 9-9-9-11-11-11 stitches (in side under sleeve), work the last 40-44-47-50-53-59 stitches (front piece). Finish the body and sleeves separately. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: = 167-183-195-211-223-247 stitches. Continue back and forth with the band stitches in garter stitch, stockinette stitch and knit over knit and purl over purl over the remaining stitches from A.1, the cast-on stitches under the sleeve are worked in stockinette stitch. When the body measures 24-26-26-26-26-26 cm = 9½"-10¼"-10¼"-10¼"-10¼"-10¼" from the division, work as follows from the right side: 6 band stitches in garter stitch, knit 31-35-38-41-44-50 and increase 3-3-4-5-6-8 stitches evenly spaced (= 34-38-42-46-50-58 stitches), purl 2, knit 1, knit 9-9-9-11-11-11 and increase 3-3-3-5-5-5 stitches evenly spaced (= 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches), knit 1, purl 2, knit 63-71-77-83-89-101 and increase 11-11-13-15-17-17 stitches evenly spaced (= 74-82-90-98-106-118 stitches), purl 2, knit 1, knit 9-9-9-11-11-11 and increase 3-3-3-5-5-5 stitches evenly spaced (= 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches), knit 1, purl 2, knit 31-35-38-41-44-50 and increase 3-3-4-5-6-8 stitches evenly spaced (= 34-38-42-46-50-58 stitches), 6 band stitches in garter stitch = 188-204-220-244-260-288 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work as follows from the wrong side: 6 band stitches in garter stitch * purl 2, knit 2 *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, purl 2 and 6 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The jacket measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 49-53-59-61-63-67 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5 MM = US 8 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 9-9-9-11-11-11 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 58-62-68-72-74-78 stitches. Insert a marker in the middle stitch of the new stitches under the sleeve. Allow the marker to follow your work onwards; it is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 4 cm = 1½", decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 6-5-3½-2½-2½-2 cm = 2⅜"-2"-1¼"-1"-1"-¾" a total of 5-6-8-9-9-10 times = 48-50-52-54-56-58 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 32-32-31-29-28-25 cm = 12½"-12½"-12¼"-11⅜"-11"-9¾". Knit 1 round and increase 8-6-8-10-8-10 stitches evenly spaced = 56-56-60-64-64-68 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 9 cm = 3½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The sleeve measures approx. 41-41-40-38-37-34 cm = 16⅛"-16⅛"-15¾"-15"-14½"-13⅜". Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. Sew the openings on the bands with small stitches. Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
