I am considering knitting Harvard Wreath pattern 232-46 The decrease and increase stitches are quite visible in the picture and wonder if there is any way of either eliminating them or including them in any way? Thank you for considering my question. I thought you would be the best ones to ask. Margaret

Dear Mrs Mantz, the increases on the picture were worked as shown by the diagrams, but feel free to adjust the technique to increase if you rather get them another way. Knitting a swatch to test first might help. Happy knitting!

10cm (4cm cote1/1 + 5cm cote2/2+ motifs). Or après A5 on me dit que 23cm depuis le marqueur équivaut à 27cm depuis le montage (donc seulement 4cm...). Quelle dimension suivre ?? Merci pour votre aide.

Bonjour Camille, effectivement, nos stylistes vont vérifier ce point, il semble que la longueur totale est bien juste, autrement dit 27 cm en taille M depuis le rang de montage. Merci pour votre retour, bonne continuation!

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 67 stitches), minus bands (e.g. 10 stitches), and divide the remaining stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 33) = 1.7. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately approx. every and every other stitch (do not increase over bands). On next row work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 stitches (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 3 stitches remain on row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit the next 2 stitches together, knit last stitch. On next row (wrong side) knit the yarn over to make a hole. Decrease first buttonhole when rib in neck measures approx. 4 cm = 1½". Then decrease the next 4-4-5-5-5-5 buttonholes, approx. 10-10½-9½-9½-10-10 cm = 4"-4⅛"-3⅝"-3⅝"-4"-4" apart. BIND-OFF TIP: To avoid a tight bind-off edge when binding off, you may use a larger needle. If this still is too tight make 1 yarn over after approx. every 8th stitch while binding off (bind off yarn overs as stitches). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. Work body back and forth on circular needle, top down. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. NECK EDGE: Cast on 67-71-73-75-79-81 stitches (including 5 band stitches in each side towards mid front) on circular needle size 7 MM = US 10.75 with DROPS Wish or 2 strands DROPS Air. Purl 1 row (= wrong side). Work next row as follows from right side: 5 band stitches in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above - * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until 6 stitches remain, knit 1, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue rib like this for 4 cm = 1½", adjust so that next row is worked from right side. Knit 1 row increasing 33-33-35-37-37-39 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 100-104-108-112-116-120 stitches. Remember BUTTONHOLES on right band - read explanation above. Purl 1 row from wrong side (work yarn overs twisted and band stitches as before). YOKE: Now work rib as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, knit 2, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue rib like this for 5-5-5-6-6-6 cm = 2"-2"-2"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜", adjust so that next row is worked from right side. Begin on row with arrow in diagrams and work pattern as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.1 over the first 5 stitches, A.2 until 10 stitches remain (= 20-21-22-23-24-25 repetitions of 4 stitches), A.3 over next 5 stitches, finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. When A.1 to A.3 have been worked, 1 stitch has been increased in A.3 = 101-105-109-113-117-121 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 9 MM = US 13. Insert a marker here, measure yoke from this marker. Now work in stockinette stitch with 5 band stitches in garter stitch in each side. When piece measures 2 cm = ¾" from the marker, work next row from right side as follows: Size S, L, XL, XXL and XXXL: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, work 1-2-2-1-1 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.4 (choose diagram for your size) until 5-6-6-6-5 stitches remain (= 15-16-20-21-22 repetitions of 6-6-5-5-5 stitches), work 0-1-1-1-0 stitches in stockinette stitch, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Size M: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.4 (choose diagram for your size) until 10 stitches remain (= 15 repetitions of 6 stitches), work the first 5 stitches in A.4, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. All sizes: When diagram has been worked vertically, 30-32-32-40-42-44 stitches have been increased and there are 131-137-141-153-159-165 stitches on needle. Work until piece measures 9-9-9-10-10-10 cm = 3½"-3½"-3½"-4"-4"-4" from marker. Now work next row from right side as follows: REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Size S, M, L and XXXL: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, work 0-1-2-0 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.5 (choose diagram for your size) until 5-5-5-6 stitches remain (= 11-14-16-22 repetitions of 11-9-8-7 stitches), work 0-0-1-1 stitch in stockinette stitch, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Size XL and XXL: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.5 (choose diagram for your size) until 12-10 stitches remain (= 17-18 repetitions of 8-8 stitches), work the first 7-5 stitches in A.5, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. All sizes: When A.5 has been worked vertically, there are 153-165-173-189-197-209 stitches on needle. Continue with stockinette stitch and 5 band stitches in garter stitch in each side until piece measures 25-27-29-31-33-35 cm = 9¾"-10⅝"-11⅜"-12¼"-13"-13¾" in total from cast-on edge), at the same time on last row increase 1-1-1-1-1-5 stitch = 154-166-174-190-198-214 stitches. Now divide piece for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 27-29-30-32-34-37 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 28-30-32-36-36-38 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-10-10-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeve), work the next 44-48-50-54-58-64 stitches (= back piece), slip the next 28-30-32-36-36-38 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-10-10-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeve), work the last 27-29-30-32-34-37 stitches (= front piece). Then finish body and sleeves separately. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! BODY: = 110-118-126-138-146-158 stitches. Work back and forth with stockinette stitch and 5 band stitches in garter stitch in each side until piece measures 20 cm = 8" from division. Approx. 8 cm = 3⅛" remain until finished measurements. Try the jacket and work to desired length before rib. Knit 1 row from right side while increasing 42-46-50-50-54-54 stitches evenly = 152-164-176-188-200-212 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 7 MM = US 10.75. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Now work rib as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, knit 2, 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue rib back and forth like this for 8 cm = 3⅛". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl - read BIND-OFF TIP. Piece measures approx. 53-55-57-59-61-63 cm = 21"-21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾" from shoulder and down. SLEEVES: Slip the 28-30-32-36-36-38 stitches from stitch holder in one side of piece on double pointed needles or a short circular needle size 9 MM = US 13 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-10-10-10 new stitches cast on under sleeve = 34-36-40-46-46-48 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-10-10-10 stitches (= 3-3-4-5-5-5 new stitches on each side of marker thread). Marker thread should be used later when decreasing under sleeve (only applies to size L, XL, XXL and XXXL - do not decrease in size S and M). Begin round at the marker thread and work stockinette stitch in the round. Work the different sizes as follows: Size S and M: Work in stockinette stitch in the round until measures 14-12 cm = 5½"-4¾" from division. Approx. 15 cm = 6" remain until finished measurements (i.e. 7 cm = 2¾" lace pattern + 8 cm = 3⅛" rib). Try the jacket and work to desired length. Knit 1 round while adjusting number of stitch to 35-35, i.e. increase 1 stitch in S and decrease 1 stitch in M. Size L, XL, XXL and XXXL: Work in stockinette stitch in the round. When sleeve measures 2 cm = ¾" from division, decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this approx. every 3-1-1-1 cm = 1⅛"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜" 2-2-2-3 times in total = 36-42-42-42 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 10-9-8-8 cm = 4"-3½"-3⅛"-3⅛" from division. Approx. 15 cm = 6" remain until finished measurements (i.e. 7 cm = 7 lace pattern + 8 cm = 3⅛" rib). Try the jacket and work to desired length. Knit 1 round while at the same time decreasing 1-0-0-0 stitches evenly = 35-42-42-42 stitches. All sizes: Now work pattern A.6 in the round (= 5-5-5-6-6-6 repetitions of 7 stitches). When A.6 has been worked, sleeve measures approx. 21-19-17-16-15-15 cm = 8¼"-7½"-6¾"-6¼"-6"-6" from division. Knit 1 round while increasing 9-9-9-10-10-10 stitches evenly = 44-44-44-52-52-52 stitches. Switch to double pointed needle size 7 mm = US 10.75. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) in the round for 8 cm = 3⅛". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl - remember BIND-OFF TIP. Sleeve measures approx. 29-27-25-24-23-23 cm = 11⅜"-10⅝"-9¾"-9½"-9"-9" from division. Work the other sleeve the same way. |
