In the engloish pattern it said to decrease for the foot every other round, but in dutch it just said to repeat the decreases 8-8-10 times. Should it be decreased every round or should it be 1 normal round and 1 decrease round?
31.12.2024 - 00:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lisa, it should be every 2nd round. So you work 1 round normally and 1 round with decreases. Happy knitting!

Hola!

Da slipper man å sy etterpå.

Was schlagen Sie vor :-(
22.01.2023 - 13:06DROPS Design answered:

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Work the entire diagram in stockinette stitch. HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 7-8-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 7-8-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch purlwise, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch purlwise, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 14-14-16 stitches on needle. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down. LEG: Cast on 180-198-216 stitches with 2 strands Nord on double pointed needles 2.5 MM = US 1.5. Remove one strand, continue to work with 1 strand. Now work 1 round as follows: * Pass 1 stitch on to right needle without working it, knit 1 and pass slipped stitch over stitch worked *, work from *-* the entire round = 90-99-108 stitches. Then work according to diagram A.1 in stockinette stitch (= 10-11-12 repetitions on round). REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the diagram has been worked, there are 60-66-72 stitches on round and piece measures approx. 2½ cm = 1". Insert 1 marker in the first stitch on last round worked, use marker for measurements later. Then work rib with knit 2/purl 1 until piece measures 5 cm = 2" from marker. Now make a folding edge as follows: Fold the beginning of piece in towards wrong side of piece so that you can pick up stitch in the first round with rib after A.1 (piece is now folded with wrong side towards wrong side and flounce is pointing upwards over the needles). Knit 1 round while at the same time as every knit stitch from the first round with rib is knitted together with next stitch on round (i.e. every 3rd stitch from the first round with rib is fastened to the round being worked now). Turn the piece inside out so that flounce is on the outside of piece, this is now the right side of sock. Knit 1 round (as the round is turned there might be a small hole in the transition but this can be sewn up with a small stitch at the end). Knit 1 round and decrease 6-8-10 stitches evenly = 54-58-62 stitches. Insert another marker in piece to use for measurements. Continue in stockinette stitch (i.e. knit from this side of sock) until piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛" from last marker (= marker inserted after piece was turned inside out). HEEL: Now keep the first 26-28-30 stitches on needles for heel, and slip the last 28-30-32 stitches on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot). Work in stockinette stitch back and forth over heel stitches for 5-5½-6 cm = 2"-2⅛"-2⅜". Insert another marker in piece to use for length measurements on sock. Now work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above. After heel decrease, pick up 13-14-16 stitches on each side of heel, and slip the 28-30-32 stitches from stitch holder back on needles = 68-72-80 stitches. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches on top of foot. FOOT: Continue with stockinette stitch in the round, AT THE SAME TIME decrease in each side as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before first marker on top of foot twisted together, and knit the first 2 stitches after last marker on top of foot together. Repeat decrease every other round a total of 8-8-10 times = 52-56-60 stitches. Work until piece measures 18-19-21 cm = 7"-7½"-8¼" from marker insert on heel (= 4-5-6 cm = 1½"-2"-2⅜" remain until finished measurements). Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 26-28-30 stitches both on top of foot and under foot. Continue working stockinette stitch while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Before marker: Knit 2 together. After marker: Knit 2 twisted together. Repeat decrease in each side on every other round a total of 4-7-9 times, and then on every round a total of 6-3-2 times = 12-16-16 stitches remain on needle. On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 6-8-8 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Knit another sock the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew a small stitch if there is a hole on leg where round was turned. |
