Started this sweater in Medium- normally I like oversized like on the model. Finished back and front on round. Now see it’s going to be too small and short. Measurements are right. Looks a lot looser on model Any ideas? Thanks
20.03.2022 - 20:55DROPS Design answered:
Dear Gaby, we generally suggest that you take a sweater, that fits like you would like you the new sweater fit, and compare the measurements to the ones given on the scematic drawing. However, if you already knitted a large portion, I would try to block the sweater, as it is knitted somewhat loosely. Happy Knitting!

Le mannequin porte quelle grandeur ?
05.01.2022 - 17:55DROPS Design answered:

Bon tricot!

|
------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle as far as the armholes. It is divided for the armholes and the front and back pieces are finished separately back and forth on the needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles, top down. BODY: Cast on 120-132-140-152-168-184 stitches with circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and Melody. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) in the round for 6 cm = 2⅜". Change to circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and continue with stockinette stitch over all stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 33-34-35-36-37-38 cm = 13"-13⅜"-13¾"-14¼"-14½"-15" work the next round as follows: Work 56-62-66-72-80-88 stitches, bind off 4 stitches, work 56-62-66-72-80-88 stitches, bind off 4 stitches. The front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth on the needle. Place the first 56-62-66-72-80-88 stitches on a thread and work the back piece over the remaining 56-62-66-72-80-88 stitches. BACK PIECE: = 56-62-66-72-80-88 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch, AT THE SAME TIME as you bind off for the armholes on each side every 2nd row as follows: 1 stitch 2 times = 52-58-62-68-76-84 stitches. When the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝", bind off the middle 20-20-22-22-24-24 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Continue by binding off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 15-18-19-22-25-29 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" (= 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm = 7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½" from where you bind off for the armhole), bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 56-62-66-72-80-88 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and bind off for the armholes as on the back piece = 52-58-62-68-76-84 stitches. When the piece measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm = 18"-19"-9¾"-20½"-21¼"-22", place the middle 14-14-16-16-18-18 stitches on a thread for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Continue by binding off stitches from the neck as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 2 times = 15-18-19-22-25-29 stitches left on the shoulder. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. SLEEVE: The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. Pick up 54-56-58-62-64-66 stitches around the armhole in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch, using short circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and Melody as follows: Start at the bottom of the armhole and pick up 27-28-29-31-32-33 stitches as far as the shoulder seam, then pick up 27-28-29-31-32-33 stitches from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole. Insert 1 marker thread mid under the sleeve and work stockinette stitch in the round. When the piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛", decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread – read DECREASE TIP! Decrease like this every 4-4-4-3½-3-3 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1¼"-1⅛"-1⅛" a total of 11-11-11-13-13-13 times = 32-34-36-36-38-40 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the piece measures 49-48-47-46-44-42 cm = 19¼"-19"-18½"-18"-17¼"-16½" (there is 4 cm = 1½" left to finished length; you can try the sweater on and work to desired sleeve-length). Change to double pointed needles size 6 mm = US 10 and work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off when the sleeve measures approx. 53-52-51-50-48-46 cm = 21"-20½"-20"-19¾"-19"-18". Work the other sleeve in the same way. NECK: Start from the right side with Melody and short circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and knit up approx. 54 to 68 stitches (including the stitches from the thread and divisible by 2). Work rib (= knit 1, purl 1) in the round for 10 cm = 4". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the top of the neck to the wrong side and sew down, to give a folded edge. To avoid the edge being tight and rolling down, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
