Dear Jax, if you want to knit the jacket from eh no 22 yellow color of Air, I would suggest to try to pair it with the np 19 curry színű Brushed Alpaca Silk yarn. I hope this helps. Happy Knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. The diagrams show all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side! INCREASE TIP (for sides of body): All increases are worked from the wrong side! Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, purl 4 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over = 2 stitches increased at the marker thread and 4 stitches increased on the row. On the next row (right side) knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 3 stitches left on row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together and knit the last stitch. On the next row (wrong side) knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked when the neck measures 1½-2 cm = ½". Then work the other 5-5-5-6-6-6 buttonholes with approx. 8½-8½-9-8-8½-8½ cm = 3¼"-3¼"-3½"-3⅛"-3¼"-3¼" between each one. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle from mid front and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves. The body is continued back and forth with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. NECK: Cast on 43-45-47-53-55-57 stitches (including 5 band stitches on each side towards mid front) with circular needle size 8 mm = US 11 and 2 strands Air + 1 strand Brushed Alpaca Silk (= 3 strands). Remove the one strand of Air and work the rest of the garment with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row (= wrong side). The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in GARTER STITCH – read description above, work A.1 until there are 6 stitches left on the row, work A.2 (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern – remember BUTTONHOLES on the right band – read description above. When the neck measures 4 cm = 1½", work the next row from the right side as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * work 1 Fisherman’s rib stitch (knit 1 in the stitch under the next stitch), make 1 yarn over, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, work 1 Fisherman’s rib stitch and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch = 59-62-65-74-77-80 stitches on the needle. Work back from the wrong side with garter stitch over garter stitch, purl over the Fisherman’s rib stitches and knit over knit (yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes). Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the row, inside the 5 band stitches. Work the yoke as described below; the yoke is measured from this marker. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 9 mm = US 13 and work the first row as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, work A.3 until there are 6 stitches left on the row (= 16-17-18-21-22-23 repeats of 3 stitches), work A.2 (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 3-3-3-3-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½" from the marker on the neck work the next row from the right side as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * work 1 Fisherman’s rib stitch, purl 2, make 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, work 1 Fisherman’s rib stitch (A.2) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch = 75-79-83-95-99-103 stitches. Work back from the wrong side with garter stitch over garter stitch, purl over the Fisherman’s rib stitches and knit over knit (yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes). Continue the pattern as before but with A.4 over A.3. When the piece measures 6-6-6-7-7-8 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"-3⅛" from the marker on the neck, work the next row from the right side as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, work A.4 over the first 4 stitches, A.5 until there are 6 stitches left on the row (= 15-16-17-20-21-22 repeats of 4 stitches), continue A.2 (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. When A.5 has been completed in height there are 135-143-151-175-183-191 stitches on the needle. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, work A.4 until there are 6 stitches left on the row (= 31-33-35-41-43-45 repeats of 4 stitches), continue A.2 (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern. When the piece measures 14-15-17-19-20-22 cm = 5½"-6"-6¾"-7½"-8"-8¾" from the marker on the neck, work the next row as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 until there are 6 stitches left on the row, continue A.2 (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern. When the piece measures approx. 18-20-22-24-26-28 cm = 7"-8"-8¾"-9½"-10¼"-11" from the marker on the neck divide the yoke for body and sleeves on the next row from the wrong side as follows: Work 23-25-26-29-31-33 stitches in garter stitch and pattern as before (= front piece), place the next 27-27-29-35-35-36 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-6-6-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work 35-39-41-47-51-53 stitches in pattern as before (= back piece), place the next 27-27-29-35-35-36 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-6-6-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve) and work the remaining 23-25-26-29-31-33 stitches in pattern and garter stitch as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 93-101-109-117-125-135 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread 26-28-30-32-34-37 stitches in from each side. There are 41-45-49-53-57-61 stitches between the marker threads on the back piece. Allow the threads to follow your work onwards; they will be used when increasing in the sides. Work stockinette stitch back and forth with 5 band stitches in garter stitch on each side towards mid front. When the piece measures 8 cm = 3⅛" from the division, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads – read INCREASE TIP. Repeat the increase when the piece measures 16 cm = 6¼" from the division = 101-109-117-125-133-143 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 28 cm = 11" from the division in all sizes (there is approx. 3 cm = 1⅛" left to finished length; you can try the jacket on and work to desired length). Change to circular needle size 8 mm = US 13 and work 3 ridges back and forth over all stitches. Bind off with knit from the right side – read BINDING-OFF TIP! The jacket measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 27-27-29-35-35-36 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles/short circular needle size 9 mm = US 13 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-6-6-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 33-33-37-41-41-44 stitches. Start the round mid under sleeve and work stockinette stitch in the round until the sleeve measures approx. 28-26-25-22-21-19 cm = 11"-10¼"-9¾"-8¾"-8¼"-7½" from the division (there is approx. 3 cm = 1⅛" left to finished length; you can try the jacket on and work to desired length). NOTE: Shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke. Change to double pointed needles/ short circular needle size 8 mm = US 11 and work 3 RIDGES in the round – read description above. Bind off with knit – remember the binding-off tip! The sleeve measures approx. 31-29-28-25-24-22 cm = 12¼"-11⅜"-11"-9¾"-9½"-8¾" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons onto the left band. |
