Can you please help a very anxious and amateurish knitter. I want to knit this pattern in a larger size - for an adult 8-10 dress size ( 34/34 bust ) to come up quite loose from yoke. Can you help me to enlarge the pattern. I would be so,so grateful.

Dear Rosemary, unfortunately, we don't make custom patterns. I'm sure you will be able to find a design of your liking for adult size S in our wide collection. Happy knitting!

Hello! I am reading through the pattern before casting on for the 11/12 size. Please explain how one can achieve the correct gauge using 2 different needle sizes with the same yarn. Thank you!
28.09.2021 - 21:45DROPS Design answered:
Hi Suzan, yoke is made in garter st on needles no 3,5 so you should make a gauge in garter st using needles no 3,5. The rest of our jumper is made in stocking st >the next gauge is for needles no 4 and in stocking st this time. Happy knitting!

I find the Diagram symbols very confusing. I looked for tutorial directions, but could not find any. For example: A.2 - Line 7 - The symbol says 1 YO between 2 stitches (easy to understand). Then, "on next row K/P YO. The next row is just knitting above the YO part. What do you mean?
21.09.2021 - 03:41DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Killian, depending on the next row after the yarn over have been worked, you will have either to knit or to purl these yarn overs, in the first part of A.2 (when you work 2 yarn overs in the middle of each leaf), you will knit the yarn overs, but on the 2nd part of diagram, the yarn overs will be worked in garter stitch = they will be purled on next round. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 sts on each side of every marker (= 8 inc sts). Beg 1 st before marker and work as follows: 1 YO, K 2 (marker is between these 2 sts), 1 YO. On next row K the YO to make a hole. ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER: Worked in the round on circular needle, top down. YOKE: Cast on 77-77- 84-84- 91-91 sts on a short circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Belle. Work A.1 over all sts. On rounds with YOs in A.1 finish with K 1. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, work A.2 (= 7 sts) over all sts (= 11-11-12-12-13-13 repetitions of A.2). When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically there is 187-187-204-204-221-221 sts on round and piece measures approx. 10 cm / 4''. Continue with GARTER ST - see explanation above, AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st in the middle of every repetition (= 11-11-12-12-13-13 sts inc), inc with YO, P YO on next row to make holes. Repeat inc every 1-1-1½-1½-2-2 cm / 3/8"-3/8"-½"-½"-3/4"-3/4" 0-1-1-2-1-2 more times = 198-209-228-240-247-260 sts. K 1 round while adjusting the no of sts to 200-212-224-240-252-266. Continue in garter st until piece measures 11-12-13-14-15-16 cm / 4 3/8''-4¾''-5 1/8''-5½''-6''-6¼''. Then work as follows: Work the first 31-33-35-37-39-40 sts (= half back piece), slip the next 38-40-42-46-48-52 sts on a stitch holder (= sleeve), cast on 6 new sts under sleeve, work the next 62-66-70-74-78-82 sts (= front piece), slip the next 38-40-42-46-48-52 sts on a stitch holder (= sleeve), cast on 6 new sts under sleeve, work the remaining 31-33-35-37-39-40 sts (= half back piece). BODY: There are now 136-144-152-160-168-174 sts for body. Insert a marker in each side of body where new sts were cast on under sleeves (= 3 new sts on each side of marker). NOW MEASURE THE PIECE FROM HERE. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6. Continue in stockinette st. When piece measures 4 cm / 1½'', inc 1 st on each side of each marker (= 4 sts inc). Repeat inc every 5-6-7-8-9-10 cm / 4'' 3 more times - READ INCREASE TIP = 152-160-168-176-184-190 sts. Continue in stockinette st until piece measures 24-27-30-33-36-37 cm / 9½"-10½"-11½"-13" -14 1/4"-14½", work 3 ridges. Bind off. SLEEVE: Slip sts from stitch holder back on double pointed needles size 4 mm / US 6 (= 38-40-42-46-48-52 sts). Pick up 1 st in each of the 6 sts cast on under sleeve = 44-46-48-52-54-58 sts. Insert 1 marker mid under sleeve. Now measure the piece from here. Work in stockinette st. When piece measures 3 cm / 1'' dec 1 st on each side of marker, repeat dec every 7-5-5-4-4-4 cm / 2 3/4"-2"-2"-1½"-1½"-1½" 2-3-3-5-5-7 more times = 38-38-40-40-42-42 sts. Continue in stockinette st until sleeve measures 21-24-26-29-32-35 cm / 8 1/4"-9½"-10 1/4"-11½"-12½"-13 3/4", work 3 ridges and bind off. ASSEMBLY: Sew the openings under the sleeves. |
