Hei.

Follow up question: How many balls/grams of yarn is required (of each colour) for 2 socks? Will 100g of the yellow and 50g of the other 3 colours be enough?
07.04.2019 - 17:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lucy, it depends on which size you are planning to make. For most sizes the amount you state will be enough, if you knit the largest sizes, you might eed an extra ball from the mustart and the sky blue colors. Happy Knitting!

Is it possible to knit these socks using magic loop? If so, how many stchs per needle would be needed?

Dear Lucy, yes, it is possible to knit these socks with magic loop :-) Happy Knitting!

PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS. Work entire pattern in stockinette st. HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 7-7-8-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 7-7-8-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 6-6-7-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 6-6-7-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 st less before every dec until there are 12-14-14-14 sts on needle. ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 64-64-68-68 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1.5 with light denim blue. K 2 rounds, switch to light sky blue. Work rib = K 2/P 2 for 4 cm / 1½". Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 and work 1 round in stockinette st while AT THE SAME TIME dec 4-4-2-2 sts evenly = 60-60-66-66 sts. Continue with A.1 – AT THE SAME TIME on last round of A.1 dec 2 sts evenly = 58-58-64-64 sts. When A.1 has been worked one time vertically, continue as follows: A.2A (= 6 sts) 4-4-5-5 times in total, A.2B (= 34 sts). REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, continue with A.3 (= 6 sts) over all sts, AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round of A.3 dec 4 sts evenly = 54-54-60-60 sts. When A.3 has been worked 1 time vertically, work 1 round in stockinette st with dark mustard while AT THE SAME TIME dec 6-2-4-4 sts evenly = 48-52-56-56 sts. Piece measures approx. 21 cm / 8¼". Insert a marker after 12th-12th-15th-15th st, next st is beg of round from here. Cut the yarn. Continue sock in stockinette st with dark mustard from the new beg of round. Continue to work until piece measures 22-23-24-25 cm / 8¾"-9"-9½"-9¾". On next round, keep the first 12-13-14-14 sts on needle for heel, slip the next 24-26-28-28 sts on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot) and keep the last 12-13-14-14 sts on needle for heel. Continue in stockinette st back and forth over the 24-26-28-28 heel sts for 5-5½-6-6½ cm / 2"-2¼"-2½"-2¾". Insert 1 marker in middle of piece. Then work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above. After heel dec, pick up 11-12-13-14 sts on each side of heel and slip the 24-26-28-28 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 58-64-68-70 sts. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 24-26-28-28 sts on top of foot. Continue in stockinette st in the round while AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts BEFORE first marker mid on top of foot twisted (i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front) and K tog the first 2 sts AFTER last marker on top of foot. Repeat dec every other round a total of 7-8-8-7 times = 44-48-52-56 sts. Continue until piece measures 18-20-22-25 cm / 7"-8"-8¾"-9¾" from marker on heel (= approx. 4-4-5-5 cm / 1½"-1½"-2"-2" remain). Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 22-24-26-28 sts on top of foot and 22-24-26-28 sts under foot. Continue in stockinette st while AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows: BEFORE marker: K 2 tog. AFTER marker: K 2 twisted tog (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front). Repeat dec every other round 3-3-4-4 more times and then every round 5-6-6-7 times = 8 sts remain on needle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Knit another sock. |
