St. Louis boots pattern does it start with two needles or all four?
30.01.2022 - 03:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Denise, the leg is worked with 2 needles. The foot is started with 2 needles and then, when it measures 7-8 1/2 -10 cm, you start working with four needles. Happy knitting!

How do I determine the foot length of the boots?
21.12.2019 - 18:46DROPS Design answered:
Dear Judy, the foot length of thiese booths are given in the heather sections. They are for feet sized 35/37 - 38/39 - 40/42 (Foot length: 22-24-26 cm). If you want to measure your own foot, measure it from toe to the heel. Please take it into consideraton that the knitted fabric is somewhat flexible. Happy Knitting!

Hi I'm new to knitting and trying to figure this out step by step. I'm a little confused on your instructions on where exactly to pick up the 12-14-16 sts on each side of middle piece inside 1 edge. Is this on either side of the 11 st or the 11 st and 28 st combined? Thanks.
19.09.2019 - 15:05DROPS Design answered:
Dear Ahyia, when you have worked 7-8,5-10 cm over the middle stitches, you will now work in the round and pick up stitches along the left side of the middle part, work the stitches from stitch holder, pick up stitches along the right side of the middle part and now work in the round. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K sts on all rows. SEED ST: Row 1: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-*. Row 2: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row. ---------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPERS: Piece is first worked back and forth and then in the round on double pointed needles. LEG: Cast on 42-44-46 sts on needle size 6 mm/US 10 with Snow. K4 rows, then work in SEED ST with 5 sts in garter st in each side - see explanation above. Work back and forth until piece measures 15 cm/6". Bind off the first 5 sts = 37-39-41 sts. FOOT: Now keep the first 9-11-11 sts on the needle (= middle piece), slip the remaining 28-28-30 sts on a stitch holder. Continue in seed st back and forth over the 9-11-11 sts - AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row cast on 1 new st in each side (edge st) = 11-13-13 sts. When 7-8½-10 cm/2¾"-3¼"-4" have been worked, bind off 1 edge st in each side = 9-11-11 sts. Then slip the sts from stitch holder back on double pointed needles size 6 mm/US 10 and pick up 12-14-16 sts on each side of middle piece inside 1 edge st (do not pick up over the 5 sts in garter st that have been bound off)= 61-67-73 sts on needle. Now measure piece from here and work in the round on double pointed needles. Insert 1 marker mid front of toes and 1 marker mid back on heel. Continue in the round in seed st for 2 cm/ ¾". Then work in stockinette - AT THE SAME TIME K 2 sts tog on each side of every marker on every other round (= 4 sts less per round) continue dec until section in stockinette measures 3-3-4 cm/1⅛"-1⅛"-1½", bind off. Sew tog seam mid under foot in outermost sts to avoid a chunky seam. Knit another slipper, but now bind off the last 5 sts, then keep the last 9-11-11 sts on needle, slip the remaining 28-28-30 sts on a stitch holder. Then work as first slipper. ASSEMBLY: Place the 5 sts in garter st on leg on top of each other and sew on three buttons through both layers. |
