What is the difference between K 2 tog and K tog YO and slipped st?
26.08.2014 - 20:09DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Durst, when you K2 tog, you knit 2 sts together - when you K tog YO and slipped st, you work together the YO made on previous row over the st slipped on previous row. see videos for both videos "Fishermans rib" or "Fishermans rib in the round" under tab "videos". Happy knitting!

I am making the headband but it appears to be thinner by one 'row/section' - the model has 4 sections and mine has 3. I'm working with 10 stitches per the pattern but is the model's wider version done with 13 or 14 to repeat * to * 3 time?
27.11.2013 - 13:49DROPS Design answered:
Dear Susan, to work with 4 V sts from RS would require to cast on 13 sts and more than 1 skein - pattern has been written so that just 1 skein is enough. Happy knitting!

Could you send me a list of how much yard I would need for both head band and scarf also what needles I will need and anything else. I use to do a little knitting many years ago and now my granddaughter wants this so I am going to try
26.11.2013 - 03:39DROPS Design answered:
Dear Terrie, you will find all required materials (yarn and needles) under the tab "materials" on the right side of the picture, ie 100 g for headband and 300 g for neckwarmer. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS head band and neck warmer in English rib in ”Polaris”.
DROPS 134-53 |
|
ENGLISH RIB (back and forth on needle): ROW 1: 1 st in garter st, * K 2 tog, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain, finish with K 2 tog and 1 st in garter st. ROW 2: 1 st in garter st, * 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-* a total of 2 times, finish with 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, 1 st in garter st. ROW 3: 1 st in garter st, * K tog YO and slipped st, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain, K tog YO and slipped st, 1 st in garter st. Repeat 2nd and 3rd row upwards. ENGLISH RIB (in the round on circular needle): ROUND 1: * 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, K 1 *, repeat from *-*. ROUND 2: * P tog YO and slipped st, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-*. ROUND 3: * 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-*. Repeat 2nd and 3rd round upwards. NEW BALL TIP: When switching ball with Polaris, split the old strand in two on the last 15 cm / 6" – cut off one part, do the same on the new strand. Place the first and last 15 cm / 6" on top of each other so that the yarn is the normal thickness and continue to work – this is done to make the change invisible. -------------------------------------------------------- HEAD BAND: Cast on 10 sts on needle size 12mm/ US 17 with Polaris. Work ENGLISH RIB back and forth on needle - see explanation above. Read NEW BALL TIP! When piece measures approx. 55 cm / 21½" (or desired length) - finish after 3rd row in English rib - work next row as follows: 1 st in garter st, * P 1, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, finish with P 1 and 1 st in garter st. Bind off with K over K and P over P. Twist the piece once and sew tog mid back with neat stitches to make the seam invisible. Sew a couple of small stitches mid front of twist at the back to keep the twist in place. NECK WARMER: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 38 sts on circular needle size 12mm / US 17 with Polaris. Work in ENGLISH RIB in the round on circular needle - see explanation above - until piece measures approx. 30 cm / 11¾". Finish after 2nd round in English rib - work next round as follows: K 1, * K tog YO and slipped st, P 1 *, repeat from *-* until 1 st remains, finish with K 1. Then bind off with K over K and P over P. |
