SWEATER Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows on larger needle in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"] Seed Stitch (on an even number of sts): Row 1: * K 1, P 1 * Row 2: * P 1, K 1 * Seed Stitch (on an odd number of sts): All rows: K 1, *P 1, K 1* Without shaped armholes: Front and Back: Instead of binding off for armholes divide into two pieces at the start of the armhole and knit straight up. Sleeves: At the first binding off for the sleeve cap, bind off all sts. Pattern: See chart. (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st. Front: Cast on 62-68-74 (82-88-94) sts on smaller needle with jeans blue and knit seed st for 1 cm [3/8"]. Change to larger needle and stockinette st. When the work measures 6-7-8 (8-9-10) cm [2-⅜" - 2.75" - 3-⅛" (3-⅛" - 3.5" - 4")], establish pattern as follows: 14-17-20 (24-27-30) sts stockinette st with jeans blue, Pattern 1, 17-20 (24-27-30) sts stockinette st with jeans blue. Continue in pattern. (The black and red sts can be embroidered with duplicate sts if desired.) After Pattern 1 continue with stockinette st and jeans blue. When the work measures 20-21-24 (24-24-26) cm [7-⅞" - 8.25" - 9.5" (9.5" - 9.5" - 10.25")], bind off on each side for armholes every other row: 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 1 time, dec 1 st 2 times = 42-48-54 (62-68-74) sts. When the work measures 25-26-30 (30-33-35) cm [9-⅞" -10.25" - 11.75" (11.75" - 13" - 13.75")], bind off the center 6-6-8 (8-10-10) sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 3 sts 0-1-1 (1-1-1) times, 2 sts 2-1-1 (1-1-1) times, 1 st 2-2-2 (3-3-3) times. Bind off all sts when the work measures approx. 30-32-36 (37-40-43) cm [11.75" - 12-⅝" - 14-⅛" (14.5" -15.75" - 16-⅞")]. Back: Cast on 62-68-74 (82-88-94) sts on smaller needle with jeans blue and knit seed st for 1 cm [3/8"]. Change to larger needle and stockinette st. When the work measures 20-21-24 (24-24-26) cm [7-⅞" - 8.25" - 9.5" (9.5" - 9.5" - 10.25")], bind off for armholes as on the front. 3 smallest sizes: When the work measures 25-27-31 cm [9-⅞" -10-⅝" - 12.25"] bind off the center 4-4-4 sts for a split and knit the rest of each side separately until the work measures 28-30-34 cm [11" - 11.75" - 13-⅜"]. 3 largest sizes: When the work measures (35-38-41) cm [13.75" - 14-⅞" - 16-⅛"], bind off the center (20-22-22) sts. All sizes: Bind off at each neck edge every row: 5-6-7 (2-2-2) sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-1-1 (0-0-0) times. Bind off all sts when the work measures 30-32-36 (37-40-43) cm [11.75" - 12-⅝" - 14-⅛" (14.5" - 15.75" - 16-⅞")]. Sleeves: Cast on 34-34-36 (38-38-42) sts on smaller double pointed needles with yellow; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 cm [1.5"] seed st. Change to larger double pointed needles, jeans blue and stockinette st. After the seed st border, inc 1 st each side of marker: 5-7-8 (10-16-17) times: Sizes 0/3 +6/9 +12/18 mos +2 years: every 4th row Size 3/4 years: every 3rd row Size 5/6 years: alternately every 3rd and 4th row = 44-48-52 (58-70-76) sts. When the work measures 12-15-17 (19-23-26) cm [4.75" - 5-⅞" - 6.75" (7.5" - 9" - 10.25")], bind off 3 sts each side of marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Then bind off on each side for sleeve caps every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-2-3) times, 2 sts 0-1-1 (2-1-0) times, 1 st 6-5-4 (2-1-1) times, 2 sts 0-0-1 (2-1-0) times, 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-3-4) times, bind off all sts. The work measures approx. 18-21-23 (25-29-32) cm [7" - 8.25" - 9" (9-⅞" - 11-⅜" - 12-⅝")]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sizes 0/3 + 6/9 + 12/18 mos.: Pick up approx. 10-12 sts along the left side of the split in the back on smaller needle with jeans blue and knit seed st for 2 cm [0.75"], bind off. Repeat along the right side of the split but after 1 cm [3/8"] make 1 buttonhole 1 cm [3/8"] from the top (bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row), bind off all sts. Sew the bottom of the split together. Pick up approx. 25-40 sts around the neck from the center front to the center back over half the placket sts (half the neckline) from the wrong side on smaller needle with jeans blue, change to vanilla yellow and knit seed st for 4-4-5 cm [1.5" - 1.5" - 2"]. Finish with 1 row natural white Cotton Frisé, bind off all sts. Repeat the collar on the other side of the neck. Sew the side seams and sew on sleeves and the button. Sizes 2 + 3/4 + 5/6 years: Pick up approx. 45-75 sts around the neck from the center front to the center back from the wrong side on smaller double pointed needles with jeans blue. Change to vanilla yellow and knit (5-5-6) cm [2" - 2" - 2-⅜"] seed st. Finish with 1 row natural white Cotton Frisé, bind off all sts. Repeat the collar on the other side of the neck. Sew the side seams. Sew on sleeves. Col. 48, dark rust DROPS 3.5 mm [US 4] circular needle, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. DROPS 3 mm [US C] crochet hook, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 21 sts in garter st = 10 cm [4"] Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Square: Cast on 32 sts and knit 15 cm [5-⅞"]. Bind off all sts. Blanket: Knit squares (see instructions above) using the following colors: Blue (red) blanket: 14 blue (coral) 9 marine (red) 4 dark purple (wine red) 4 light brown (plum) 4 cobalt (rust) 4 dark brown (dark pink) 3 mint (pink) 3 light mint (orange) 3 purple (dark rust) Assembly: Blanket = 48 squares crocheted together: 6 squares wide, 8 squares high. Crochet the squares together with blue (coral) and single crochet. SOCKS: Sock's foot length: 10-11-12 (14-15-17) cm [4" - 4.25" - 4.75" (5.5" - 5-⅞" - 6.75")] DROPS 2.5 mm [US 0] and 3 mm [US 1] double-pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows on larger needle in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Rib: *knit 1, purl 1*. Repeat from * - *. Socks: Cast on 38-40-42 (42-44-48) sts on smaller needle; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 1.5-1.5-1.5 (2-2-2) cm [5/8" -⅝" -⅝" (0.75" - 0.75" - 0.75")] rib. Change to larger needle and knit stockinette st until the work measures 12-13-13 (13-14-14) cm [4.75" - 5-⅛" - 5-⅛" (5-⅛" - 5.5" - 5.5")]. Dec 0-2-2 (0-0-4) sts evenly distributed over the next row = 38-38-40 (42-44-44) sts. Heel: Knit 3-3.5-4 (4.5-5-5) cm [1.25" - 1-⅜" - 1.5" (1.75" - 2" - 2")] stockinette st back and forth over 18 sts in the center of the back. Turning the heel (work 1st row from right side): 1st row: K 10, K 2 tog into back of st, K 1, turn the work 2nd row: Sl 1, P 4, P 2 tog, P 1, turn the work 3rd row: Sl 1, K 5, K 2 tog into back of st, K 1, turn the work 4th row: Sl 1, P 6, P 2 tog, P 1, turn the work 5th row: Sl 1, K 7, K 2 tog into back of st, K 1, turn the work 6th row: Sl 1, P 8, P 2 tog, P 1, turn the work 7th row: K 2 tog, K 8, K 2 tog into back of st = 10 sts on the needles. Pick up 8-9-10 (11-12-12) sts on each side of the heel and set all sts on the needles = 46-48-52 (56-60-60) sts. Dec 1 st on each side of the uppermost 20-20-22 (22-24-24) sts which are knit in stockinette st (these sts centered on top of the foot can also be knit in rib to make the sock more elastic) every row 3-4-4 (6-6-6) times = 40-40-44 (44-48-48) sts. When the foot measures 7-8-9 (10-11-13) cm [2.75" - 3-⅛" - 3.5" (4" - 4.25" - 5-⅛")] from the start of the heel turning, shape the toe: Knit stockinette st, put 4 markers evenly distributed around the toe, dec 1 st by knitting the 2 sts before each marker together (= 4 bound off sts per row), every row 8-8-9 (9-9-9) times = 8-8-8 (8-12-12) sts. Pull the a double strand of yarn through the last sts and sew shut. |
