------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work the band as follows (7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work the band as follows (7 stitches): Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. Work like this from both the right and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. INCREASE TIP-1 (from right side): INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the front of the needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the back of the needle. INCREASE TIP-2 (from wrong side): INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the back of the needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the front of the needle. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn) from the right side, when there are 5 stitches left on the row as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work the band as before, knitting the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked on the first row from the right side after the neck is finished. Then work the other 7-7-7-7-8-8-8 buttonholes with 6-6-6½-7-6-6½-6½ cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2½"-2¾"-2⅜"-2½"-2½" between each one. The bottom buttonhole is worked in the transition between the stockinette stitch and rib. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down while increasing for raglan. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 114-114-114-114-126-126-126 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 and 2 strands DROPS Kid-Silk. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work as follows from the right side; 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD – read explanation above, * purl 1, knit 2 *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, purl 1 and work 7 stitches according to bands with I-cord. Continue this rib for 4 cm = 1½". On the last row from the wrong side, increase 1 stitch in all purled sections (seen from the right side), i.e., work as follows: 7 band-stitches, * knit 1, make 1 yarn over, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and work 7 band-stitches = 148-148-148-148-164-164-164 stitches. Insert 1 marker inside one band. The piece is measured from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches and inserting each marker in the middle of 6 stitches (the raglan-stitches) and you increase for raglan on each side of these raglan-stitches). The raglan-stitches are worked as follows: Knit 2, purl 2, knit 2. Count 25-25-25-25-29-29-29 stitches (= left front piece), count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert 1 marker in the middle of these 6 stitches, count 18 stitches (= sleeve), count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert 1 marker in the middle of these 6 stitches, count 38-38-38-38-46-46-46 stitches (= back piece), count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert 1 marker in the middle of these 6 stitches, count 18 stitches (= sleeve), count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert 1 marker in the middle of these 6 stitches, there are 25-25-25-25-29-29-29 stitches left (= right front piece).
