------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work the band as follows (7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work the band as follows (7 stitches): Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. Continue like this from both the right and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn) from the right side, when there are 5 stitches left on the row as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work the band as before, knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked on the first row from the right side after the neck is finished. Then work the other 5-5-6-6-6-6-6 buttonholes with 10-10½-9-9-9½-9½-10 cm = 4"-4⅛"-3½"-3½"-3⅝"-3⅝"-4" between each one. The bottom buttonhole is worked in the transition between the stockinette stitch and rib. STRIPES-1 (yoke and body): The stripes are worked in stockinette stitch with 3 strands DROPS Kid-Silk in the following colors: 12 cm = 4¾" with 3 strands color Light Peach, 4 cm = 1½" with 2 strands color Light Peach + 1 strand color Light Lavender, 4 cm = 1½" with 2 strands color Pastel Pink + 1 strand color Light Lavender, 12-14-16-17-19-21-23 cm = 4¾"-5½"-6¼"-6¾"-7½"-8¼"-9" with 3 strands color Pastel Pink (dividing for body and sleeves is worked in this stripe), 4 cm = 1½" with 2 strands color Pastel Pink + 1 strand color Light Lavender, 4 cm = 1½" with 2 strands color Light Lavender + 1 strand color Pastel Pink, work to finished length with 3 strands color Light Lavender. STRIPES-2 (sleeves): Continue the stripe from the yoke, i.e. 3 strands color Pastel Pink, until the sleeve measures 24-23-22-23-23-21-22 cm = 9½"-9"-8¾"-9"-9"-8¼"-8¾" from the division, 4 cm = 1½" with 2 strands color Pastel Pink + 1 strand color Light Lavender, 4 cm = 1½" with 2 strands color Light Lavender + 1 strand color Pastel Pink, work to finished length with 3 strands color Light Lavender. RAGLAN: All increases are worked from the right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over which is worked as follows on the next row (wrong side): BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH (twists to left): Purl through the stitch-loop which lies on the back of the needle to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stockinette stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH (twists to right): Slip the yarn over purl-wise from the left to the right needle, then replace it by inserting the left needle through the back (the yarn over is the other way around). Purl through the stitch-loop which lies on the front of the needle to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stockinette stitch. INCREASE TIP: When increasing evenly on the first round of rib, it is important to increase in the stitches that will subsequently be purled, so the knitted stitches continue neatly from the stockinette stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 85-91-91-97-97-103-103 stitches with circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and 3 strands color Light Peach DROPS Kid-Silk. Purl 1 row from the wrong side, then work as follows from the right side: 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD – read explanation above, rib (knit 1, purl 1) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 and 7 stitches according to bands with I-cord. Continue this rib for 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛". Insert 1 marker inside one band (mid-front), the piece is measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9. Insert 4 markers without working the stitches, each marker inserted in a knitted stitch (raglan-stitches which you then increase on each side of) as follows: Count 17-19-19-19-19-21-21 stitches (= left front piece), insert marker-1 in the next stitch, count 13-13-13-15-15-15-15 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 21-23-23-25-25-27-27 stitches (= back piece), insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 13-13-13-15-15-15-15 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-4 in the next stitch. There are 17-19-19-19-19-21-21 stitches left (= right front piece). Work stockinette stitch, STRIPES-1, bands and also increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanations above, as follows - remember to work the first BUTTONHOLE – read explanation above. ROW 1 (right side): Work STRIPES-1, the band as before, knit to marker-1, decreasing 0-1-1-0-0-1-1 stitch across these stitches, knit and increase for raglan on each side of all 4 raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches), then decrease 0-1-1-0-0-1-1 stitch on the front piece after marker-4, work the band as before = 93-97-97-105-105-109-109 stitches. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work stripes, purl and bands as before (remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN). ROW 3 (right side): Work stripes, knit and bands as before, increasing for raglan on each side of all 4 raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches). ROW 4 (wrong side): Work stripes, purl and bands as before. Work ROWS 3 and 4, 4-3-3-7-12-12-14 more times (6-5-5-9-14-14-16 increases in height and 12-10-10-18-28-28-32 rows worked after the rib) = 133-129-129-169-209-213-229 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. Now increase for raglan as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work stripes, knit and bands as before, increasing for raglan on each side of all 4 raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches). ROW 2 (wrong side): Work stripes, purl and bands as before (remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN). ROW 3 (right side): Work stripes, knit and bands as before, increasing for raglan on the front and back pieces, i.e., before markers 1 and 3 and after markers 2 and 4; do not increase across the sleeves (= 4 increased stitches). ROW 4 (wrong side): Work stripes, purl and bands as before. Work ROWS 1 to 4 a total of 8-9-10-8-6-7-7 times (32-36-40-32-24-28-28 rows worked: 8-9-10-8-6-7-7 increases in height on the sleeve and 16-18-20-16-12-14-14 increases in height on the front and back pieces) = 229-237-249-265-281-297-313 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished. A total of 22-23-25-25-26-28-30 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 14-14-15-17-20-21-23 increases in height on the sleeve. The yoke measures approx. 23-24-26-26-27-29-29 cm = 9"-9½"-10¼"-10¼"-10⅝"-11⅜"-11⅜" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing the raglan-stitches will end up on the front and back pieces. Work 40-42-44-46-48-52-55 stitches as before (= front piece), place the next 41-41-43-47-51-51-53 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work 67-71-75-79-83-91-97 stitches (= back piece), place the next 41-41-43-47-51-51-53 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work the last 40-42-44-46-48-52-55 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 163-175-187-199-211-231-247 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch, STRIPES-1 and bands until the piece measures 50-52-54-55-56-58-60 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-21⅝"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from the marker mid-front. On the next row from the right side, begin the rib, AT THE SAME TIME increase 30-32-34-38-40-42-46 stitches evenly on the first row – read INCREASE TIP (do not increase across the bands) = 193-207-221-237-251-273-293 stitches, as follows: Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Work the band as before, then rib (knit 1, purl 1 – remember to increase) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 and work the band as before. When the rib measures 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛", change to circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9, purl 1 row from the wrong side and bind off with knit from the right side. The jacket measures approx. 52-54-56-57-59-61-63 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾" from the marker mid-front and 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 cm = 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 41-41-43-47-51-51-53 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 49-51-55-61-67-69-73 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-18-20 stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work stockinette stitch and STRIPES-2 in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, after the first round, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-3-5-4-4 times every 2nd round = 45-47-51-55-57-61-65 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 42-41-40-41-40-38-39 cm = 16½"-16⅛"-15¾"-16⅛"-15¾"-15"-15¼" from the division – remember the stripes. Change to double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 9-9-9-9-11-11-13 stitches evenly on the first round - remember INCREASE TIP = 54-56-60-64-68-72-78 stitches.
