I don’t understand the leg decrease. What does it mean “work 2 together (in rib)”, and “work 2 twisted together (in rib)”. Is there a link to a video showing this? Thanks!
04.07.2026 - 13:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mirka, working 2 together in rib means that you will knit 2 together or purl 2 together depending on which stitches you need to work in that part of the rib., as you need to maintain the rib pattern as much as possible. Work 2 twisted together means that you need to knit 2 twisted together or purl 2 twisted together, also depending on the rib section you are working the decrease in; you can watch videos on how to work them by clicking on the names in this comment. Happy knitting!

I have a question about the cast-off stitches for the crotch and the leg separation. The pattern says: Work rib until 5-5-5-5 (7-7) stitches remain before stitch with marker at the front of pants, cast off 12-12-12-12 (16-16) stitches, ..... Which means that we have 5 stitches before the stich with marker and 6 stitches after the the stich with marker, it is not symmetrical. Am I right or did I misunderstand something?
26.08.2025 - 14:49DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mariana, although it may seem slightly asymmetrical, take into account that, in the other side, you will also cast off 5 stitches before, stitch with marker, 6 stitches after. In the end, both legs will have the same number of stitches. Happy knitting!

Pozdrawiamy!

Chciałabym zgłosić błąd we wzorze. „NOGAWKA: Wziąć z powrotem na druty pończosznicze nr 3 oczka drugiej nogawki (z nitki) i drugą nogawkę wykonać w taki sam sposób.„ Wziac z powrotem na druty pończosznicze nr 3,5, ponieważ całe spodenki robimy na drutach o rozmiarze 3,5, a rozmiar 3 używamy przy ściągaczu na końcu nogawki 🙂

Witaj Natalio, dziękuję za Twoją wiadomość. Błąd został skorygowany. Pozdrawiam!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: Work until stitch with marker, make 1 yarn over, knit stitch with marker, make 1 yarn over. Repeat at the other marker. On next round work yarn overs twisted, knit and purl alternately so that the pattern is the same on each side of knit stitch and rib continues as before. DECREASE TIP: Work until 3 stitches remain before stitch with marker, work 2 together (in rib), work stitch with marker and work 2 twisted together (in rib). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- PANTS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked in the round on a circular needle top down, switch to double pointed needles when working legs. PANTS: Cast on 128-132-140-144 (152-156) stitches on circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 with DROPS Baby Merino. Work rib (knit 1/purl 1) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Insert 1 marker in first stitch on round (mid back). Switch to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4. Now work an elevation as follows, from mid back: Work 6 stitches rib, turn, tighten yarn, work 13 stitches rib, turn, tighten yarn, work 19 stitches rib, turn, tighten yarn, work 25 stitches rib. Continue like this by working 6 stitches more on every turn until a total of 60-72-84-96 (120) stitches have been worked from wrong side. Turn, now work in the round with rib from right side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Work until piece measures approx. 15-17-18-18 (19-20) cm = 6"-6¾"-7"-7" (7½"-8") (measured at the front of pants). Count 64-66-70-72 (76-78) stitches from and with stitch with marker, insert a marker in next stitch (= knit stitch mid front on pants), number of stitches is the same on each side of marker. On next round, increase 2 stitches at every marker – read INCREASE TIP! Increase like this every other round 5-5-5-5 (5-5) times in total. There are 148-152-160-164 (172-176) stitches on round. On next round bind off stitches and divide for legs as follows: Work rib until 5-5-5-5 (5-5) stitches remain before stitch with marker at the front of pants, bind off 12-12-12-12 (12-12) stitches, work rib until 5-5-5-5 (5-5) stitches remain before stitch with marker at the back of pants, bind off 12-12-12-12 (12-12) stitches and work rib the rest of row. Piece measures 18-20-21-21 (22-23) cm = 7"-8"-8¼"-8¼" (8¾"-9") cm from cast-on edge (measured on the front of pants). Now finish each leg separately, slip stitches not to be worked on a thread. 18-20-21-21 (22-23) cm = 7"-8"-8¼"-8¼" (8¾"-9") LEG: = 62-64-68-70 (74-76) stitches. Now measure piece from here! Insert a marker in first stitch on round, work rib in the round as before. When piece measures 2-2-2-2 (3-3) cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾" (1⅛"-1⅛"), decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 4-3-4-4 (5-5) cm = 1½"-1⅛"-1½"-1½" (2"-2") , 3-4-4-5 (5-6) times in total = 56-56-60-60-64-64 stitches. Work until piece measures approx. 13-16-19-22 (27-30) cm = 5⅛"-6¼"-7½"-8¾" (10⅝"-11¾"). Switch to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) until piece measures 17-20-23-26 (31-34) cm = 6¾"-8"-9"-10¼" (12¼"-13⅜") (or desired length). Bind off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Slip stitches from thread on double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4, and work the other leg the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew stitches bind off at the front of pant to stitches bind off at the back of pants. |
