How to knit with 2 threads to get a stronger heel - knitting tip

In this DROPS video we show how to get a stronger heel on a sock by knitting with 2 threads. Use strand inside and outside of ball (or use 2 balls) and work 1 stitch alternately with one and the other strand. This way you get a thicker heel without working with double strand. In the video, we already have knitted the rib and put the stitches mid on top of foot on a stitch holder and we show 2 rows where we knit with 2 strands. These socks are knitted in DROPS Karisma, but in video we use a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. You must read the pattern to be able to follow this video properly. How to knit an old-fashioned square heel on a sock

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit an old-fashioned square heel on the socks in DROPS 189-36. We have already knitted the leg and putted the 20 top of foot stitches on a stitch holder (we knit size 35/37). Continue by working stocking stitch back and forth over the heel stitches; on the first row from the right side increase stitches for a better fit as follows: Knit 9 stitches, increase 1 stitch, * knit 2 stitches, increase 1 stitch *, work from *-* a total of 3 times and then knit to end of row = 28 stitches on needle. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch to the measurement written in the pattern and insert 1 marker in middle of row. On the next row from the right side work as follows: Knit 10 stitches, knit together the next 8 stitches 2 and 2, knit the last 10 stitches. Turn and purl back. Knit 1 row from the right side. Now work back and forth from the wrong side to work the heel stitches together. All rows are worked from the wrong side. Turn and purl the first 12 stitches from the wrong side. Make sure that the strand is at the back of the piece and work as follows: LEFT NEEDLE: Knit 2 stitches twisted together, move the knitted-together stitches back onto the left needle and tighten the strand. Do not turn the piece. RIGHT NEEDLE: Insert the left needle into the 2 next stitches on the right needle and pick up the strand and take it around the left needle, then pull the strand through these 2 stitches and drop the 2 stitches from the right needle. Then move the knitted-together stitches back onto the right needle and tighten the strand. Do not turn the piece. Repeat LEFT and RIGHT NEEDLE like this until there are 2 stitches left. Now the heel stitches have been worked together. Place the 2 remaining stitches on the right needle and turn the piece to the right side. How to finger- and armknit a neckwarmer

In this DROPS video we show how to finger knit two skeins DROPS Big Delight and then we arm knit a neckwarmer out of the just finger knitted skeins. Cast on 7 stitches and arms knit 17-19 rows (depending on your gauge / size of your wrist). Cast off and sew short sides tog edge to edge, and voila, you have a great neckwarmer.

How to knit a hooded scarf, following DROPS pattern 253-61

In this DROPS video, we have already worked the hood (size L/XL) and placed the stitches on 2 stitch holders. We now show how to knit up stitches around the hood and work an I-cord cast-off until there are 2 stitches left on the row. These 2 stitches are placed on one of the stitch holders, while 2 stitches are picked up on the other side and placed on the second stitch holder. Read I-CORD CAST-OFF in the pattern text. Cut the strand. Place the stitches from one stitch holder back on the needles. Now we show you how to cast on stitches for the right-hand side of the scarf, work 1 row before knitting together the hood and scarf, starting mid-back. At the same time, you work I-cord edge stitches and moss stitch rib. Read the explanations in the pattern text, for I-CORD CAST-OFF, 2 I-CORD EDGE STITCHES, moss stitch rib and how the hood and scarf are joined. When all stitches are picked up from the hood (50 rows worked), the 2 stitches from the stitch holder are still separate and on the stitch holder (in the video they are placed on the needle). Knit these 2 stitches (in size S/M there are 3 stitches on the stitch holder, you then knit 1 and knit the other 2 stitches together). Then work back from the wrong side with 2 I-cord edge stitches, purl 2 together, work moss stitch rib until there are 3 stitches left, purl 1 and work 2 I-cord edge stitches. Read the explanation in the pattern text on how and where to cast off the scarf’s right-hand side. We show row 1 (from the right side) of the 8 first rows, then how to cast off on row 1 (from the right side). Now work the left-hand side of the scarf, then sew the cast-on edges on the right and left-hand sides of the scarf together mid-back, using grafting stitch. We use the yarns DROPS Daisy and DROPS Kid-Silk in the video, with the same colours and needle size as in the pattern.

How to knit A.1, A.2 and A.3 in DROPS 150-42

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the beautiful lace pattern following the charts A.1, A.2 and A.3 for the Autumn Mist set in DROPS 150-42. We knit with 2 edge sts in garter st according to the pattern. We have already knitted 1 repeat of the chart in height to make it easier to see the lace pattern. We are now knitting 1 repeat in height following the charts: K2 edge sts, now start again in the lower right corner of the chart A.1 (consisting of 2 sts), continue with A.2 (consisting of 6 sts) and repeat A.2 (3 times in the video) until7 sts remain on row, now work A.3 (consisting of 5 sts) and finally K2 edge sts. We show all pattern rows knitted from RS according to the chart, and several rows knitted from WS (with 2 K sts each side).
