How to work several cables after a chart

Tags: animals, cable, chart, pets,

In this DROPS video we show how to work several cables after chart M.1 to the dog coat in DROPS 102-43.
We work 3 garter stitches in each side and we have already worked 17 rows of the chart so you can see the cables better. We start the by working the 18th row.

On this row the cables are worked like this:
Put 3 stitches on cable needle behind the work, knit 3, knit 3 from cable needle.
On row 20 and 22 work 1st and 3rd cables like this: Put 1 stitch on a cable needle behind the work, knit 3, purl 1 from the cable needle.
And 2nd and 4th cables are worked like this:
Put 3 stitches on a cable needle in front of work, purl 1, knit 3 from cable needle

This dog coat is worked in DROPS Karisma, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Eskimo.

Thank you. I was trying to do the cables on the wrong side and now that you have told me cables are only knitted on the right side it makes it perfectly clear. The videos don’t give help on the cabling when done on the section where it is knitted back and forth.

I am making this dog sweater. So on the right side cable is 1 stitch on cable needle behind , K3, P1 from cable needle. On wrong side is it still put 1 stitch on cable needle but in front, P3, K1 from cable needle. On right side it is put 3 stitches on cable needle in front of work, P1, K3 from cable. On wrong side is it put 3 stitches on cable needle behind the work, K1, P3 from cable? Of do you reverse the cables on the pattern and do the 1 stitch cable over the 3 stitch cable?

Dear Ginny, the cables should be always worked from the right side, ie always on the right side rows, from WS work the stitches as shown in the diagram (most likely P over P and K over K) when you work each piece separately for leg opening. Couldl this lesson help?

When working wrong side, how do you work the cables? I understand when working the cables on the right side.

DROPS Design 12.10.2020 - 09:25:

Dear Ginny, when working them from WS you most of the times K over K and P over P - check the diagram you are working on or see in this pattern checking diagram and video. Feel also free to ask your question on the pattern you are working on if you still feel unsure. Happy knitting!
