How to crochet puff stitches shaped like hearts

In this DROPS video we show how we crochet puff stitches shaped like hearts work around. A sweet pattern used for hat or neckwarmer. We have already crocheted a band of 32 chain stitches (multiples by 4). Form a ring with 1 sl st in first chain stitch. . ROUND 1: * YO , insert the hook in the 1st chain stitch/next chain stitch, pull the thread through and make it long *, repeat * - * 3 times = 9 loops on hook, YO hook and pull yarn through all 9 loops, 1 chain stitch. Repeat * - * 4 times in same chain stitch, 1 chain stitch, skip 3 sts = 1 heart. Crochet hearts the entire round and finish with 1 chain stitch on top of 1st part of the first heart. ROUND 2: * YO, insert the hook around the next chain stitch, pull the thread through and make it long *, repeat * - * 3 times = 9 loops on hook, YO hook and pull yarn through all 9 loops, 1 chain stitch. Repeat * - * 4 times in same chain stitch, 1 chain stitch = 1 heart. Crochet hearts the entire round and finish with 1 chain stitch on top of 1st part of the heart. Repeat round 2 to the desired length. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. The little doll's hat is crocheted with DROPS Merino Extra Fine, started with 32 chain stitches on hook 3,5 mm (Circumference: 22 cm / 8 3/4'') and in the last three rounds the puff hearts are crocheted less (repeat only 3 times from *-*). The pom pom is made in DROPS Kid-Silk.

Puff stitches - crochet

Try this fun crochet texture - perfect for scarves ! Crochet a band of chains, 2 ch for each puff. In the video we ch 14 for seven puffs. Turn and in 2nd ch from hook work like this: yo, pick up yarn, yo, pick up yarn in same st, yo, pick up yarn again in same st, now 7 loops on hook. yo and pull through all 7 loops, yo, pull through st = 1 puff. Skip a ch and make a puff in next ch. Following rows: keep making puffs the same way in the stitch above each puff from previous row.

How to crochet a large puff stitch

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet a puff stitch that is used in the Algarve sweater in DROPS 202-4.
