Hei.

I str. S/M skal du hekle 13 rapporter av A.1 (= 6 masker) = 13 x 6 = 78 masker. I str. L/XL skal du hekle 14 rapporter av A.1 (= 6 masker) = 14 x 6 = 84 masker. Du hekler A.1 slik over 6 masker: 2 dobbeltstaver i første maske, 1 luftmaske, hopp over 2. og 3. fastmasker, hekle 2 dobbeltstaver i 4. fastmaske, 1 luftmaaske og hopp over 5. og 6. fastmaske.

Buon lavoro!

Once I get to 84 stitches my work already measures 6.5” across. Am I right in thinking that the 4.5” refers to the radius, not the diameter? So, in fact I need to continue until it’s 9”?

Dear Julie, remember to check your gauge, you should have 18 rows sc = 4" - read more about tension here. Happy crocheting!

Once I arrive to the 84 single crochets and no longer need to increase, do I need to continue replacing the first sc with a chain stitch? In other words, chain one to increase height, then chain one and sc into the second stitch?
26.05.2019 - 08:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Gahmun Leung, continue in the round with sc as before, ie replace 1st sc with a ch as explained under CROCHET INFO. Happy crocheting!

Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 1st chain stitch at beginning of round. On every round with treble crochets replace first treble crochet with 4 chain stitches. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 4th chain stitch at beginning of round. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Work 5-5 chain stitches on hook size 4.5 mm/US 7 with Bomull-Lin or Paris and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. ROUND 1: Work 6 single crochet in ring – READ CROCHET INFO! ROUND 2: Work 2 single crochet in every single crochet = 12 single crochet. ROUND 3: Work * 2 single crochet in next single crochet, 1 single crochet in next single crochet *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 18 single crochet. ROUND 4: Work * 2 single crochet in first single crochet, 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 single crochet *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 single crochet. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! ROUND 5: Work * 2 single crochet in first single crochet, 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 single crochet *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 30 single crochet. Continue like this until there are 78-84 single crochet on round (work 1 single crochet more between every increase for every round and increase 6 single crochet per round). BOTH SIZES: Continue with 1 single crochet in every single crochet until piece measures approx. 10-11 cm / 4"-4½". Now work pattern according to diagram A.1 (= 13-14 repetitions on round of 6 stitches) 2 times in total vertically. Piece measures approx. 17-18 cm / 6¾"-7". Then work brim as follows: BRIM: Continue with A.1, AT THE SAME TIME increase 36-36 single crochet evenly on 3rd round in A.1. Repeat A.1 with increase on 3rd round 1 more time = 150-156 stitches. Now work the first 3 rounds in A.1, then work last round as follows: Place 1 steel wire along the edge of brim. Work 1 single crochet in/around every stitch around the wire. This is done to make the hat more stiff in outer edge. Fasten off. Thread a ribbon for decoration up and down through 3rd round with lace pattern worked on hat. |
