How to crochet around a thin steel wire

Keywords: good to know, hat, kant,

In this DROPS video we show how to crochet the last round of a hat where you also crochet around a thin steel wire. The brim will becomes a bit stiffer. Chooses whether you wants to use single or double steel wire. In this video we work with single crochet around with a double steel wire. Twist the steel wire ends together a few times and put them at the edge. Fasten with the thread end while sewing over the steel wire ends so that they do not appear. We use the yarn DROPS Paris in the video. You also need to read a pattern as well as watch the video. You will find patterns where you can work a steel wire by clicking on one of the pictures below.

The video above can be used in the following patterns

DROPS Design answered:

Buonasera Sara, non c'è un diametro preciso del filo di ferro da utilizzare, può fare delle prove con diverse dimensioni. Buon lavoro!

Is all of the wool Ethically sourced from Peru?

25.10.2019 - 15:57

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mr Ce Lynch, Most of our wool comes from South America - Peru mostly - and it's sourced from farms that follow strict quality/enviromental regulations. Animals like the alpacas for example are often only shed once a year, and are the complete livelihood of these farms. Also, the factories that harvest and card the fibre have to follow strict labour laws and give back to the Peruvian community in the form of social projects, etc. You will find more information about our yarns origin in each of the yarn’s shadecards and on our yarn FAQ on Tips & Help.

This video would be much more helpful if you showed what to do with the ends of the wire once it has been crocheted into place.
