CARDIGAN: Gauge: 19 sts x 26 rows with Vivaldi in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. 20 sts with Pattern 1 and Vivaldi = 10 cm. Pattern: See charts. The pattern is seen from the right side. The first row of the chart for Pattern 2 (M.2) is a wrong side row. Pattern 2 is a lace pattern. The chart is written showing edge sts. These edge sts are in addition to the buttonband sts at each side and the pattern is knit as follows on the Body: 2nd row of chart (right side row): K 3 (edge sts), Pattern 2 over the following 144-159-174-189 sts, K 2 (edge sts). 4th row of chart: K 2 (edge sts), Pattern 2 over the following 144-159-174-189 sts, K 3 (edge sts). 6th row of chart: K 1 (edge st), Pattern 2 over the following 147-162-177-192 sts, K 1 (edge st). Button band: The buttonbands are knit in garter st throughout and continue up along neckband - in order to keep a neat edge, knit a little tighter. Knitting tips (for neck): All decs are made from right side. Dec 1 st inside of 4 garter st edge sts as follows: After 4 edge sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. Before 4 edge sts: K 2 tog. Buttonholes: Make 4 buttonholes along right front. 1 buttonhole = bind off the 3rd and 4th sts from edge, cast on 2 new sts over the bound off sts on the next row. Make buttonholes when the piece measures 4, 12, 20 and 28 cm. Make the last buttonhole when 2 rows remain before neck shaping begins. Body: Cast on 178-195-212-229 sts with Vivaldi, knit 2 rows garter st. Change to Pattern 1 (row 1 = right side), but keep 4 edge sts at each side (center front edges) in garter st - make buttonholes along right button band – see instructions above. When the piece measures 14 cm change to Silke-Tweed. P 1 right side row. Change to stockinette st, decreasing 11-12-13-14 sts evenly distributed on the 2nd row = 167-183-199-215 sts. When the piece measures 17 cm - adjust length to end after wrong side row - dec 10-11-12-13 sts evenly distributed = 157-172-187-202 sts. Change to Vivaldi and K 1 wrong side row. Then knit Pattern 2 - see instructions above – start on row 2 of chart (for only the 1st repeat). Continue to knit the 4 edge sts at each side in garter st. When the piece measures 28 cm, P 1 right side row. Read entire next section before knitting: Change to Vivaldi and stockinette st to finished measurements, increasing 7-8-13-14 sts evenly distributed on the 2nd row (not over buttonband sts) = 164-180-200-216 sts. Put 1 marker 43-47-52-56 sts in from each side = 78-86-96-104 sts between markers for back. V-neck: When the piece measures 29 cm dec 1 st at each center front edge - see knitting tips- every 4 rows 14 times. Armhole: When the piece measures 34-35-36-37 cm bind off 6-6-8-8 sts at each side for armhole (3-3-4-4 sts each side of each marker). Knit each piece separately. Right front: Continue neck shaping, and bind off for armhole at the side every other row: 3 sts 0-0-1-1 time, 2 sts 0-1-1-2 times and 1 st 2-2-3-3 times. After all armhole and V-neck shaping is complete 24-26-26-28 sts remain on shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 54-56-58-60 cm. Left front: Knit the same as the right, reversing all shaping. Back: = 72-80-88-96 sts. Bind off for armhole at each side as on front = 68-72-72-76 sts remain. When the piece measures 51-53-55-57 cm knit 4 rows garter st over the center 24 sts, then bind off the center 16 sts for the neck. Dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2 times - see knitting tips = 24-26-26-28 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 54-56-58-60 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 53-53-70-70 sts with Vivaldi and knit 2 rows garter st. Change to Pattern 1 (row 1 = right side), but keep 1 edge st at each side not knit in the pattern. When the piece measures 12 cm - adjust to end after 1 P row - change to Silke-Tweed and P 1 right side row. Change to stockinette st, decreasing 9-6-17-17 sts evenly distributed = 44-47-53-53 sts. Read entire next section before knitting: When the piece measures 16 cm - adjust length to end after a P row - change back to Vivaldi. P 1 right side row, then knit Pattern 2 (row 1 = wrong side). Note: Row 2 of Pattern 2 is knit as follows: K 3 (edge sts), Pattern 2 over 39-42-48-48 sts, K 2 (edge sts). At the same time when the piece measures 16 cm - adjust to end after row 2 of Pattern 2 - inc 1 st at each side every 2.5-2.5-2.5-2 cm a total of 14-14-13-15 times = 72-75-79-83 sts. Knit the increased sts in stockinette st. When the piece measures 21 cm P 1 right side row, then knit stockinette st to finished measurements. At the same time when the piece measures 52-51-48-47 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time and 3 sts 1-2-0-0 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 57 cm, then bind off 3 sts 1 time at each side. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 58 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Crocheted edge: Neck: Crochet an edge with Silke-Tweed as follows: Start on left front where the lace pattern ends and crochet from right to left. Crochet inside 4 edge sts along the row of decreased sts up along neckband. The crocheted edge lies inside of the 4 edge sts and turns out toward armhole. Start with 1 sc in the 1st st/row, * ch 5, skip over 2 sts/rows, 1 sc in the next st/row *, repeat from * - * around the neck until the lace pattern ends on right front. Finish with 1 sl st in last st/row. Picot edge on lower edges on body and sleeve: Crochet with Silke-Tweed as follows around edges: 1 sc in 1st st, * ch 3, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook, skip over 1 st, 1 sc in the next st *, repeat from * - * and finish with 1 sl st in the last st. Sew sleeve seams using edge sts as seam allowance. Sew in sleeves and buttons. Scarf - see pattern under model 13. |
