Bonjour !

Bon tricot!

I am incredibly disappointed with this pattern. I checked and double checked my gauge and went up in both needle and yarn size and still it is a baby hat. I was really looking forward to wearing this on the ski slopes this year. Unfortunately this will probably be my final pattern attempt with this website. Very disappointed.
12.11.2017 - 23:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Hannah, we are sorry to hear that, tension in this pattern is the usual one for this kind of yarn, ie 26 sts x 34 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4'' - adjust needle size if required to get correct tension and correct size for finished pattern. You can use a larger needle to work colour pattern if your tension is a bit tight when working diagrams. Happy knitting!

Hello, Can I make this hat from Alpaka only instead of Fabel and Alpaka? Thank you.
05.09.2017 - 00:46DROPS Design answered:
Dear Natalia, you can use 1 thread yarn group C when 2 threads yarn group A are worked together, but this hat is worked with 1 thread Fabel (off-white) for background colour and 1 strand Fabel for colour pattern, with a tension of 26sts x 34 rows stocking st = 10 x 10 cm, so you cannot use Alaska here instead. Happy knitting!

PATTERN: See diagram M.1, M.2 and M.3 – all diagrams worked in stockinette st. -------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round. Cast on 144 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm / US 1 with Alpaca. Work 1 round stockinette st and continue in rib, K2/P2, for 3 cm / 1⅛". Change to Fabel, work 2 round stockinette st. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Continue with M.1 and then M.2 – AT THE SAME TIME on last round of M.2 dec 24 sts evenly by K tog every 5th and 6th st = 120 sts. Continue in M.3. After M.3 there are 60 sts on needle. Now complete piece in off-white as follows: K 1 round, and work next round as follows: * K2 tog, K1 *, repeat from *-* = 40 sts. K 1 round and on next round K2 tog across the round = 20 sts. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts. Tighten tog and fasten thread. Hat measures approx 24 cm / 9½". POMPOM: Make a small pompom with a diameter of approx 4 cm / 1½" in off-white and attach it to top of hat. |
