After the dec to 55-57-60-sts, the pattern states "Knit 2 rows" twice. Is this a misprint or should it read "Knit 4 rows"? Also, after the "Knit 2 rows" the directions state that you should knit sts tog. Is this a separate row, or do you do that on the 2nd Knit row? Thanks, I love the pattern!

Hoi Anne.

HAT Knitting gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows stockinette sts with Snow = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. After felting: 13½ sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"] Knitting tip: Knit 2 first sts tog on Size M and continuing on every 5th and 6th sts to end of row. Hat: Knit hat back and forth and sew tog mid back. Cast on 108-115-115 sts on needle size 9 mm [US 13] with Snow. Knit stockinette sts – after 2nd row knit every 14th and 15th sts tog = 101-108-108 sts on row. When piece measures 6-7-7 cm [2⅜" – 2 ¾" – 2 ¾"] knit every 7th and 8th sts tog = 89–95-95 sts on row. When piece measures 10-11-11 cm [4" – 4⅜" – 4⅜"] – read Knitting tips – knit every (5th and 6th sts) - (6th.and 7th sts) tog = 75-79-82 sts on row. Insert marking thread or stitch marker. Remember knitting gauge! When piece measures 27-29-31 cm [10⅝" – 11⅜" – 12¼"] from marking thread or stitch marker knit every 6th and 7th sts tog = 65-68-71 sts. Knit 2 rows. Knit every 5th and 6th sts tog = 55-57-60 sts. Knit 2 rows. Knit 2 rows. Knit every 4th and 5th sts tog = 44-46-48 sts. Knit 2 rows. Knit every 3rd and 4th sts tog = 33-35-36 sts. Knit 2 rows. Knit every 2nd and 3rd sts tog = 22-24-24 sts. Knit 2 rows. Knit all sts tog 2 by 2 = 11-12-12 sts. Piece measures approx 49-52-54 cm [19 ¼" – 20½" – 21 ¼"] in total, pull the thread through remaining sts and pull tog. Assembly: Sew tog in outermost edge mid back. FELTING: The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine, using a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees C = 104 degrees F without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. SCARF Measurements: Approx 26 cm [10¼"] x 155 cm [61"] Materials:DROPS Snow from Garnstudio 300 g color no 33, red mix DROPS needles size 10 mm [US 15] – or the needle size needed to obtain correct knitting gauge. Knitting gauge: 9 sts x 12 rows moss sts = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"] Moss stitch: 1st row: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. 2nd row: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row. Scarf: Cast on 24 sts on needle size 10 mm [US 15] with red mix. Knit moss stitch - see explanation above – until piece measures approx 155 cm [61"] or desired length. Remember knitting gauge! Bind off in moss stitch. |
