Hi Carolyn, It is easiest to use different stitch holders on each side. Happy knitting!

Hej igen!

If I have to many stitches I assume I should I decrease on evenly (including on sleeve sections)? I I have 18 extra stitches. Also what does "back and forth slipping" mean? Do you have a video for that section. thanks
07.06.2023 - 15:14DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Wander, well you might decrease evenly if you like to, - for neck shaping, you first slip the middle stitches on a thread then continue back and forth (= in rows) from one side of neck to the other, at the same time, work the first 2 sts at the beg of next row from neck, slip them on a thread, and work row to the end (remember raglan decrease), repeat this row 3 more times (2 sts 2 times on a thread on each side) and then repeat 4 more times (2 on each side) with just 1 stitch. You will have on a thread: 1+1+2+2+15-17+2+2+1+1 sts for neck. Happy knitting!

Hej!

With your assistance I have reached Neck section with 2 raglan dec remaining but I have 140 stitches on needle. Should I rip it or continue? Should I continue with larger neckline opening? If so how many rows are left to continue till end ribbing? thanks
06.06.2023 - 14:06DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Wander, when the last 2 decreases (32 sts) are remaining, you should have decreased a total of 11-12 times and you should have 122-134 sts left on needle (see size), then you decrease on next row 16 sts for raglan as before at the same time slip the middle 15-17 sts on a thread of neck, then continue back and forth slipping for neck at the beg of every row from each side of neck: 2 sts 2 times and 1 stitch 1 time - at the same time work the last decrease for raglan. 122-134 - 32 sts for raglan = 69-79 sts on needle and 90-102 sts including the stitches on a thread for neck. Happy knitting!

Rib: * K2, P2 *, repeat from *-*. Body piece: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 196-212 sts on circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 with Muskat and work 3 cm = 1⅛" Rib – see above. Change to needle size 4 MM = US 6 and continue in stockinette st, on the first round adjusting the sts count to 194-210 sts. Remember the knitting gauge! When piece measures 31-33 cm = 12¼"-13" work next round as follows: 89-97 sts on front piece, slip 8 sts on a stitch holder for armhole, 89-97 sts on back piece, slip 8 sts on a stitch holder for armhole. Put piece aside and knit the sleeves. Sleeve: Cast on 60-68 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 with Muskat and work 2 cm = ¾" Rib. Change to needle size 4 MM = US 6 and continue in stockinette st, at the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm on every 3rd-4th round a total of 4-3 times = 68-74 sts. When piece measures 6 cm = 2⅜" slip 8 sts mid under arm on a stitch holder = 60-66 sts left on round. Put piece aside and knit the other sleeve Yoke: Now slip sleeves on the same circular needle as body pieces where the 8 sts were put on stitch holders = 298-326 sts. Insert a marker in all transitions between sleeves and body pieces = 4 markers. Continue in stockinette st on all sts, at the same time dec for raglan and then neck as follows – read all of the following before continuing: Raglan: Make all dec from RS. Work 5 rows without dec. Dec on each side of all markers with 4 stockinette sts between the dec (= 2 sts on each side of marker) Dec 2 sts on each side of all markers (= 16 dec sts per row) on every 4th row 13-14 times (= 208-224 dec sts in total). Dec as follows after marker: slip 1 st on cable needle behind piece, K3 tog, K1 from cable needle. Dec as follows before marker: slip 3 sts on cable needle in front of piece, K1, work sts from cable needle as follows: slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog into back of loop, psso. Neck: At the same time when 2 raglan dec remain slip the middle 15-17 sts on front piece on a stitch holder for neck and slip sts on stitch holder each side on every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times. After raglan and neckline dec slip sts on stitch holder back on needle = 90-102 sts. Change to needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 and work 2 cm = ¾" rib, bind off. Assembly: Graft tog sts under arm. |
