------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- STRIPES: Work with color Powder pink until the piece measures 9-10-11-12-13-14-15 cm = 3½"-4"-4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛"-5½"-6" from the marker mid-front. Continue with alternately 1 round of color Powder Pink and 1 round of color Hot Pink for 9-10-11-12-13-14-15 cm = 3½"-4"-4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛"-5½"-6" – remember that the stripes continue from the yoke onto the body and sleeves. Then work with color Hot Pink to finished length. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn over from the left needle onto the right needle purl-wise, then replace it on the left needle by inserting the needle through the back (the yarn over is the other way round). Knit through the stitch loop that is on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that is on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 52-56-56-60-60-60-64 stitches with circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and color Powder Pink DROPS Melody. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 2½-2½-3-3-3-3½-3½ cm = 1"-1"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1¼"-1¼". The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 17-18-18-19-19-19-20 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 6 MM = US 10. Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches and inserting each marker in 1 stitch (raglan-stitch). You increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches. Insert marker-1 in the first stitch, count 7 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 17-19-19-21-21-21-23 stitches (= front piece), Insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 7 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-4 in the next stitch, there are 17-19-19-21-21-21-23 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Work stockinette stitch and STRIPES in the round – read explanation above, increasing for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches - read explanation above describing how to increase. Increase for raglan every 2nd round, on each side of the raglan-stitches, 11-12-12-12-13-13-14 times (8 increased stitches on each increase-round) = 140-152-152-156-164-164-176 stitches. NOTE: At the beginning of the round increase after marker-stitch 1 and at the end of the round before marker-stitch 1. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. The increases on the sleeves are finished. Continue increasing on the front and back pieces every 2nd round 1-1-2-2-2-3-3 more times (4 increased stitches on each increase-round) = 144-156-160-164-172-176-188 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished: a total of 12-13-14-14-15-16-17 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 11-12-12-12-13-13-14 increases in height on the sleeves. Continue working without further increases until the piece measures 14-15-16-17-18-19-20 cm = 5½"-6"-6¼"-6¾"-7"-7½"-8" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as working next round – remember STRIPES – divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Knit 1 (this stitch belongs to the back piece), place the next 29-31-31-31-33-33-35 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 4-4-4-6-6-6-6 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 43-47-49-51-53-55-59 (= front piece), place the next 29-31-31-31-33-33-35 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 4-4-4-6-6-6-6 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 42-46-48-50-52-54-58 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 94-102-106-114-118-122-130 stitches. Continue in the round with stockinette stitch and continue the stripes from the yoke, working until the piece measures 27-30-34-38-41-43-45 cm = 10⅝"-11¾"-13⅜"-15"-16⅛"-17"-17¾" from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 14-14-16-16-16-18-18 stitches evenly on the first round = 108-116-122-130-134-140-148 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2" bind off with rib. The sweater measures approx. 31-34-38-42-46-48-50 cm = 12¼"-13⅜"-15"-16½"-18"-19"-19¾" from the marker mid-front and 34-37-41-45-49-51-53 cm = 13⅜"-14½"-16⅛"-17¾"-19¼"-20"-21" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 29-31-31-31-33-33-35 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 6 MM = US 10 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 4-4-4-6-6-6-6 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 33-35-35-37-39-39-41 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 4-4-4-6-6-6-6 stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Continue in the round with stockinette stitch and continue the stripes from the yoke. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 2 cm = ¾" from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP, as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 6-8-10-10-10-12-12 cm = 2⅜"-3⅛"-4"-4"-4"-4¾"-4¾", 3 times = 27-29-29-31-33-33-35 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 16-21-25-28-31-35-38 cm = 6¼"-8¼"-9¾"-11"-12¼"-13¾"-15" from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 5 MM = US 8. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 3-3-3-3-5-5-5 stitches evenly on the first round = 30-32-32-34-38-38-40 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 20-25-29-32-36-40-43 cm = 8"-9¾"-11⅜"-12½"-14¼"-15¾"-17" from the division. |
