Thank you again so much for my questions with regard to pattern 77-12. I think I’ll try the Soft-Tweed, unless you think some other yarn would be better?
23.04.2022 - 17:33DROPS Design answered:
Dear Heida, no, we think Soft-Tweed would be best. It's not in our substitution list because it's quite new, so we hadn't added it here. Happy knitting!

Thank you so much for all your help with regard to pattern 77-12. I meant to ask if Drops Sky could also be a substitution for the Angora- Tweed? Better than the Soft-Tweed perhaps?\r\nMany thanks.
23.04.2022 - 17:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Heida, no, Soft Tweed is more similar in structure than DROPS Sky, which is a lightweight yarn. Also, it would be better if you buy 1 or 2 more balls of Soft-Tweed than the amount of Angora-Tweed required, so that you may compensate for the small yardage difference between them. Happy knitting!

Hello. For the pattern 77-12 could Drops Soft Tweed be substituted for the discontinued Angora-Tweed? Many thanks
23.04.2022 - 16:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Heida, yes, you can substitute Angora Tweed with Soft Tweed. Soft Tweed is slightly thicker but it shouldn't affect you when working this sweater. Happy knitting!

Hello. I’m having trouble in understanding how to increase at each end of the sleeve in the English Rib. Have watched the video but wondered if this could be explained in a written text? \r\nKind regards \r\nHeiða
22.04.2022 - 19:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Heida, you work the English Rib as follows: Row 1: 1 edge stitch, 1 yo, k2tog the yo and the knitted stitch from the previous row, continue according to the pattern, in English Rib, until 1 stitch remains in the row, 1 yo, 1 edge stitch. Hej Marie.

Bon tricot!

DROPS Pullover in Angora-Tweed
DROPS 77-12 |

Gauge: 15 sts x 42 rows in pattern = 10 x 10 cm. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Lace Rib pattern: Row 1 (right side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * K 1, yo, sl 1 as if to purl *, repeat from * - * to last 2 sts, end with K 1, K 1 (edge st knit in garter st) Row 2 (wrong side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * yo, sl 1 as if to purl, K tog the yo from previous row and the next st *, repeat from * - * to last 2 sts, end with yo, sl 1 as if to purl, K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). Row 3 (right side): K 1 (edge st), * K the next st and the yo tog, yo, sl 1 as if to purl *, repeat from * - * to last 2 sts, end with K tog the next st and the yo from previous row, K 1 (edge st). Repeat rows 2-3. Note: The pullover is knit from side to side, starting at one lower edge of sleeve, inc for body, dec again and ending at lower edge of other sleeve. To accommodate all the body sts, the pullover is knit on circular needles. Pullover: Cast on 39-39-39-43-43 sts on circular needles. Knit Lace Rib pattern - see instructions above - to finished measurements. Note: when counting sts, do not count the yarn overs as sts. When the piece measures 12 cm inc 1 st at each side (inside 1 edge st) every 4.5-3.5-3-3-2.5 cm 9-11-12-12-13 times = 57-61-63-67-69 sts - knit the increased sts in the pattern as you go along. When the piece measures 51-50-49-48-47 cm (= sleeve), place a marker - measure the piece from here. Loosely cast on at each side at the beginning of each row: 2 sts 2 times and 4 sts 6 times, then cast on 13-13-16-16-19 sts 1 time. There are 139-143-151-155-163 sts on the needle. Continue with pattern - knit the first and last sts on needle a little tight to have a neat edge. When the piece measures 13-15-17-19-21 cm (from the marker) knit the next row as follows (right side row): 69-71-75-77-81 sts for the back, bind off 5 sts for the neck, 65-67-71-73-77 sts for the front. Knit each piece separately. Front: = 65-67-71-73-77 sts. Dec 1 st for the neck every other row 8 times = 57-59-63-65-69 sts. Knit until neck opening measures 14-14-14-15-16 cm - lay piece flat and measure from where you divided Body. Loosely cast on at neck edge every other row: 1 st 8 times, then 5 sts 1 time = 70-72-76-78-82 sts - knit the increased sts in the pattern as you go along. After all sts are cast on, the neck opening measures approx. 18-18-18-19-20 cm, put all sts on st holder and knit the Back. Back: = 69-71-75-77-81 sts. Knit until neck opening measures approx. 18-18-18-19-20 cm (to match the width of neck opening on front). Front + Back: Put all sts for Body back on the same circular needles = 139-143-151-155-163 sts. Continue in Pattern until the piece measures 40-44-48-53-58 cm - from the marker. Now bind off sts at each side at the beginning of each row: 13-13-16-16-19 sts 1 time, 4 sts 6 times and 2 sts 2 times = 57-61-63-67-69 sts. Put in a marker and measure the piece from here. Knit approx. 3-3-4-3-5 cm (to match length of other sleeve after last inc to the marker) then dec 1 st at each side inside 1 edge st every 4.5-3.5-3-3-2.5 cm a total of 9-11-12-12-13 times = 39-39-39-43-43 sts. When sleeve measures 51-50-49-48-47 cm (from the last marker) bind off all sts. Assembly: Sew sleeve and side seams from right side edge to edge. Neckband: Pick up approx. 92-102 sts around the neck on smaller short circular needles – pick up sts inside 1 edge st so that there will be 1 K row before neckband at center front and back. Knit 8 rows stockinette st, bind off – the neckband will roll. Optional: Crochet a row of sc around the bottom edge of Body if the edge seems too loose. |
