Hello! I started knitting this hat just before bed and didn't see the part where it says start with P3. I've just finished the ribbing and went back to read the instructions when I realized my mistake. Is there any way I can modify the next rounds of the pattern to match K3/P3 or should I frog it and start again? Thanks

Dear Sofia, if you did K 3 / P3 ribbing then you could just move the start of teh round to the next P3. If you have to knitted a different ribbing, then you will have to frog. I hope this helps. Happy knitting!

Hi, I was just wondering, do I read the pattern chart from right to left, or left to right and do I start from the top or bottom of chart?

Dear Anna, start reading diagram at the bottom corner on the right side and read every round from the right towards the left (from RS) - read more about diagrams here). Happy knitting!

Regarding this pattern,it does not tell the knitter when to work the charted pattern. The way the pattern is written is quite confusing, which is saddening considering I would love to make this beautiful hat. When are you supposed to knit the chart in correspondance with the extra written instructions (which are not pertaining to the charted pattern whatsoever)?
12.09.2015 - 00:17DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Torrey, you have to follow diagram when pattern says to "work *P3, M2* - M2 refers to the diagram - Read more about diagrams here. Happy knitting!

PATTERN: See diagram M.2 - diagram shows repeat as seen from RS. -------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round from bottom edge towards the top. Cast on 84-96 sts with Nepal on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4. Work 10 rounds rib, P3/K3 – NOTE: Beg with P3. Work next round as follows: * P3, K1, 1 YO, K1, 1 YO, K2, P1, K2, 1 YO, K1, 1 YO, K1 *, repeat from *-* to end = 112-128 sts. Change to circular needle size 5 mm / US 8. Continue as follows: * P3, M.2 (K YO from previous round into back of loop to avoid a hole) *, repeat from *-* to end (= 7-8 repeats). Change to double pointed needles when sts no longer fit circular needle. After M.2 there are 42-48 sts on needle. On next round work all P3 tog to P1 = 28-32 sts. On next round K2 tog to end = 14-16 sts. Cut the thread and pull through remaining sts twice, tighten tog and fasten. The hat measures approx 24 cm / 9½". |
