Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows. Knitting tip-1: To avoid thread ends work each diamond on the first line with separate balls. Rather than cutting the threads, let the balls follow the diamonds as you go along. Knitting tip-2: Always pick up sts from the RS. Half Domino Diamond: Work 5 edge sts in garter st until the half diamond has been completed. Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K all sts until 7 sts remain (incl 5 edge sts), K2 tog, 5 edge sts. Mirror at the other side of diamond, i.e. at the other side of piece. Repeat row 1 and 2, i.e. dec 1 st in diamond towards the 5 edge sts on every other row until 1 st (+ 5 edge sts) remain. Cut the thread and pull through remaining st. Slip the 5 edge sts on a stitch holder. Whole Domino Diamond: Insert 1 Marking Thread (MT) in st no 20. Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K all sts until 1 st before MT, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, work remaining sts on row. Repeat row 1 and 2, i.e. dec 2 sts in the middle of diamond on every other row until 1 st remain. Cut the thread and pull through remaining st. BLANKET Beg by casting on sts for the whole width of the blanket, and then work diamonds one by one back and forth on needle in garter st. Line 1 with domino diamonds: Cast on 216 sts (inclusive 5 edge sts each side) on circular needle size 7 mm [US 10½] with 1 thread of each quality (= 2 threads). K 1 row from WS. Work next row as follows from RS: 5 edge sts, K2 tog, * K 38 sts, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso *, repeat from *-* a total of 4 times and finish with K 38 sts, K2 tog and 5 edge = 206 sts. Now work 1 half domino diamond – see above – on the first 25 sts (includes 5 edge sts). Leave remaining sts on needle. See Knitting tip-1! Now work 1 whole domino diamond – see above - on the next 39 sts on needle. Remember the knitting gauge! When this diamond is completed, work 1 whole domino diamond on the next 39 sts on needle. Continue like this until 25 sts remain on row (there are now 4 whole and 1 half diamond on Line 1). Now work 1 half domino diamond and 5 edge sts on these 25 sts. When the half diamond is completed and the 5 edge sts slipped on a stitch holder, there are 4 whole and 2 half diamonds on the first line of domino diamonds. Line 2 with domino diamonds: Pick up 19 sts along the side of the half diamond – see Knitting tip-2! Pick up 1 st between the half diamond and the next whole diamond from Line 1. Pick up 19 sts along the side of the next diamond = 39 sts on needle. Work 1 whole domino diamond. When this diamond is completed pick up 39 sts between the next 2 diamonds from Line 1 and work 1 whole diamond. Continue like this until there are 5 whole domino diamonds on Line 2. Line 3 with domino diamonds: Pick up 20 sts – remember Knitting tip-2 – along the side of the last diamond from Line 2 and work the 5 edge sts back on needle = 25 sts. Now work 1 half domino diamond. When the half diamond is completed, slip the 5 edge sts on a stitch holder, and pick up 19 sts from RS along the side of each of the next 2 diamonds from line 2 and 1 st between the diamonds = 39 sts on needle. Work 1 whole domino diamond. When this diamond is completed pick up 39 sts between the next 2 diamonds from Line 2 and work 1 whole diamond. Continue like this until there are 4 whole diamonds and 1 half diamond on Line 3. Work the 5 edge sts back on needle and pick up 20 sts along the side of the last diamond from Line 2. Now work 1 half domino diamond and 5 edge sts on these 25 sts. When the half diamond is completed and the 5 edge sts slipped on a stitch holder there are 4 whole and 2 half diamonds on Line 3. Repeat Line 2 and Line 3 until there are a total of 15 Lines with domino diamonds. Blanket now measures approx 160 cm [63"]. Last row: Slip the 5 edge sts back on needle, pick up 19 sts along both sides of each diamond on the last Line + 1 st between all diamonds and 1 st at the top of each diamond and work the 5 edge sts back on needle = 209 sts. K 1 row on all sts and bind off. _____________________________________________________________________ Patterned DROPS socks in 2 threads "Alpaca". Pattern: Round 1: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Round 2: K all sts. Repeat round 1 and 2. Heel: Work 1 row on heel sts, at the same time dec 4 sts evenly = 16-18-20 sts. Continue in stockinette st, at the same time slip 1 st at the end of every row on a stitch holder. Continue like this until there are 5-6-7 sts on stitch holder each side of heel = 6-6-6 sts left on needle. Insert a Marking Thread (MT) in piece. Continue like before, but now work 1 st from stitch holder back on needle at the end of every row. Note! To avoid holes, pick up 1 st between stitch holder and needle and work this st tog with st from stitch holder on next row. Continue like this until there are 16-18-20 sts on needle. Work 1 row on all sts. SOCKS Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 52-56-60 sts on needle size 4 mm [US 6] with 2 threads Alpaca. K 2 rounds and continue in rib, K1/P1. After 4 rounds rib continue in Pattern – see above, make sure to have K1 over K1 in rib. Remember the knitting gauge! When piece measures 30-31-34 cm [11¾"-12¼"-13⅜"] keep the first 10-11-12 sts on needle, slip the next 32-34-36 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot) and keep the last 10-11-12 sts on needle = 20-22-24 sts for heel. Work Heel – see above. When heel is completed slip sts from stitch holder back on needle = 48-52-56 sts. Insert 2 new MT in piece, 1 after the first 8-9-10 sts and 1 after 40-43-46 sts (= 32-34-36 sts between each MT = upper foot). Continue in Pattern on sts on upper foot and stockinette st on remaining sts under foot. At the same time when piece measures 6-7-7 cm [2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"] from MT on heel dec as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before the 32-34-36 sts on upper foot into back of loop and K tog the first 2 sts after the 32-34-36 sts on upper foot. Dec like this on every other round a total of 6 times = 36-40-44 sts. Continue in pattern and stockinette st like before until piece measures 18-19-21 cm [7"-7½"-8¼"] from MT on heel (= approx 4-5-6 cm [1½"-2"-2⅜"] left). Remove all MT and insert 2 new MT each side with 18-20-22 sts on upper foot and 18-20-22 sts under foot. Continue in stockinette st on all sts, at the same time dec for toes on each side of both MT as follows: work round until 3 sts before MT, K2 tog, K2 (MT sits between these 2 sts), K2 tog into back of loop. Dec like this on every other round a total of 3-5-8 times and then on every round 4-3-0 times = 8-8-12 sts left. On next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. |
