Thanks for your quick reply! However, I can't see the extra 1 stitch in any diagrams. Where is it? Basically: after the last M4 repeat, and before starting a new row and M2 chart, I have an extra k1 stitch - is this correct? Which color should it be? Thank you!

Dear Francesca, you work M.4 over 17 sts (not 16 sts), ie repeat the 4 sts a total of 4 times (= 16 sts) and finish with the first st in M.4 (= 17 sts in M.4). Happy knitting!

Hi there, I have a problem with the stitch count of the upper hand in size S (44 sts). M2 (5sts) +M3(17sts) +M2(5sts)+M4(4sts x 4)=43 stitches total, and not 44. I have 1 stitch too many!
02.02.2016 - 13:35DROPS Design answered:
Dear Francesca, before thumb, you have to work: M2 (5 sts), M3 (17 sts), M2 (5 sts) and M4 over 17 sts (= 4 x 4 sts in diagram + 1st st in diagram) = 44 sts. Happy knitting!

In pattern you forgot to mention how to fold edge part. Options are : sew it or knit together just before decrease.

Knitted DROPS mittens for men with pattern in ”Karisma”. Yarn alternative ”Merino Extrafine”.
DROPS 110-40 |

Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.4. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Work the entire pattern in stockinette st. Right mitten: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 48-56 sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm [US 4] with dark gray and work 3 cm [1⅛"] stockinette st. Work next round as follows: * K2 tog, 1 YO *, (= eyelet row). Work 3 cm/1" stockinette. Fold the edge double and fasten on the WS after the mitten is done. Now continue in M.1 (= 11-13 sts), at the same time dec 4-4 sts evenly on first round = 44-52 sts. After M.1 work next round as follows: M.2 (= 5 sts), M.3 (= 17-21 sts), M.2, M.4 on the next 17-21 sts, (M.3 = upper hand). Insert a Marking Thread (MT) in st 28-32 (= first st in M.4) to mark the thumb and now measure piece from here. Remember the knitting gauge! When piece measures 1 cm [3/8"] inc 1 st on each side of st with MT on every 3rd round a total of 6-7 times = 56-66 sts – incorporate the inc sts in M.4 as you go along. When piece measures 6.5-7 cm [2½"-2¾"] slip the 12-14 inc sts + st with MT (=13-15 sts) on a stitch holder. On next round cast on 1 new st behind stitch holder = 44-52 sts. Continue in pattern until piece measures 17-18 cm [6 ¾"-7"] (3-4 cm [1⅛"-1½"] left) and now dec on both sides of M.2 on every round by K 2 tog each side (= 4 dec per round) a total of 10-11 times = 4-8 sts left. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Thumb: Slip the 13-15 thumb sts back on double pointed needles and pick up 1 st behind thumb. Work M.4, at the same time inc 2-4 sts evenly on first round = 16-20 sts. Work 6.5-7 cm [2½"-2¾"] of M.4, on next round K all sts tog 2 by 2, cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. Left mitten: Cast on and work like right mitten, but mirrored, i.e. insert MT for thumb in the last st in M.4. |
