Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows. Pattern: See diagram M.1 and M.2. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Increasing tip: Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. Work YO into back of loop on return row to avoid a hole. Back piece: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 94-104-114-124-139-154 sts on needle size 4.5 mm [US 7] with 2 threads. Work rib from RS as follows: 1 edge st, * K2, P3 * repeat from *-*, and finish with K2 and 1 edge st. When rib measures 4 cm [1½"] change to needle size 5 mm [US 8] and continue in stockinette st, at the same time dec 20-23-26-26-32-37 sts evenly on first row = 74-81-88-98-107-117 sts. When piece measures 5 cm [1"] dec 1 st each side on every 3 cm [1⅛"] a total of 5-6-6-6-6-6 times = 64-69-76-86-95-105 sts – dec by K2 tog inside 5 sts each side from the RS. When piece measures 22 cm [8¾"] – see Increasing tip – inc 1 st each side inside 5 sts on every 2 cm [3/4"] a total of 7 times = 78-83-90-100-109-119 sts. When piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm [14½"-15"-15¼"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½"] bind off for armhole each side at the beg of every row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-1-2-4-5-7 times and 1 st 3-4-5-5-6-7 times = 62-65-66-68-71-71 sts. Continue in stockinette st. When piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm [21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"] bind off the middle 18-19-20-22-23-23 sts for neck and complete each shoulder separately. Dec 1 st on neckline on next row = 21-22-22-22-23-23 sts left on each shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm [22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"]. Left front piece: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 52-57-62-67-77-82 sts (includes 1 edge st at side and 1 edge st towards mid front) on needle size 4.5 mm [US 7] with 2 threads. K 1 row from RS, beg at side: 1 edge st, * P3, K2 * repeat from *-*, and finish with 1 edge st towards mid front. When rib measures 4 cm [1½"] change to needle size 5 mm [US 8] and continue in stockinette st, at the same time dec 10-12-14-14-20-20 sts evenly on first row = 42-45-48-53-57-62 sts. Work stockinette st, at the same time dec and inc at the side as described for back piece. When piece measures 30-32-34-36-38-40 cm [11¾"-12½"-13⅜"-14¼"-15"-15¾"] dec 1 st towards mid front for V-neck on every other row a total of 15-15-15-16-16-16 times. At the same time bind off for armhole at side as described for back piece. When all inc and dec are complete there are 21-22-22-22-23-23 sts left on shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm [22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"]. Right front piece: Like left front piece, but mirrored. Work first row from WS as follows: 1 edge st, * K3, P2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 edge st. Sleeves: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 57-57-62-62-67-67 sts on needle size 4.5 mm [US 7] with 2 threads. Work 4 cm [1½"] rib, K2/P3, with 1 edge st each side. Change to needle size 5 mm [US 8] and continue in stockinette st, at the same time dec 14-12-16-14-17-16 sts evenly on first row = 43-45-46-48-50-51 sts. When piece measures 5 cm [2"] inc 1 st each side on 5-4.5-3.5-3.5-3-2 cm [2"-1¾"-1¼"-1¼"-1⅛"-¾"] a total of 9-10-12-12-13-15 times = 61-65-70-72-76-81 sts. When piece measures 49-48-47-46-44-43 cm [19¼"-9"-18½"-18"-17¼"-17"] – less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder – bind off for armhole each side at the beg of every row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-3-3-4-4-4 times, 1 st 1-1-2-2-4-6 times then 2 sts each side until piece measures 54-55-55-56-56-57 cm [21¼"-21⅝"-21⅝"-22"-22"-22½"], now bind off 3 sts each side 1 times and bind off remaining sts. Sleeve measures approx 55-56-56-57-57-58 cm [21⅝"-22"-22"-22½"-22½"-22 ¾"]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams and set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams inside 1 edge st. Wavy border: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Pick up 288 to 333 sts (divisible by 5 + 3) on circular needle size 5.5 mm [US 9] with 2 threads inside 1 edge st as follows: up along right front piece, round neckline and down along left front piece. K 1 row from WS, K 1 row from RS, K 1 row from WS and continue as follows: 3 garter sts, * K2 P3 *, repeat from *-* and finish with 3 garter sts. Work 1 more row in rib like this. On next row from RS inc 1 st in each K-section – see Increasing tip! Work 3 rows in rib, K3/P3. Note! Do not inc on the 3 garter sts each side. On next row from RS work M.1 on all sts. Work 1 row K5/P5. On next row work M.2 on all sts. Work 1 row in rib, K9/P9. Bind off loosely in rib. Tie strings: Crochet 2 strings with ch measuring approx 38 cm [15"] with 4 threads on crochet hook size 5 mm [H/8]. Sew ends to front pieces where dec for neckline beg and tie a knot the other end |
