Is opgelost.

I am following the pattern for size 12/18 months. with 178 stitches and moving to the pattern section I have a surplus of 40 stitches. The stitches add up to 138 on the charts. What is missing from the pattern please?\r\nThis is the second pattern I have tried to use but the mistakes in the writing of the pattern have been beyond my experience to correct. I do feel rather beaten!
24.02.2019 - 22:50DROPS Design answered:
Dear Vivienne, in size 12/18 months work the 178 sts as follows: 1 edge st, M3 (= 6 sts), M2 (=20 sts), M3 (= 6 sts), 24 sts in M4, M3 (=6 sts), M2 (= 20 sts), M3 (= 6 sts) (=mid on back piece), M.3 (= 6 sts), M.2 (= 20 sts), M.3 (= 6 sts), 24 sts in M.4, M.3 (= 6 sts), M.2 (= 20 sts), M.3 (= 6 sts), 1 edge st, ie 1+6+20+6+24+6+20+6+6+20+6+24+6+20+6+1= 178 sts. Happy knitting!

Repeat along the right front, but after 1 cm = ⅜" make 5-6-6 (6-7-7) buttonholes evenly distributed on the row, making the top buttonhole as high up as possible (if necessary, make one less buttonhole on the buttonband and make a buttonhole in the neck band after the first row). (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound off sts on the next row.) Pick up approx. 120-150 sts around the neck on smaller needles and knit rib for 2.5 cm = 1", bind off.
