Knitting gauge: 23 sts x 45 rows in garter sts and 25 sts x 30 rows in wave pattern = 10 x 10 cm = 4" x 4". Stripe pattern: See diagram M.9, 1 repeat = 4 rows. Wave pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.8. Garter sts back and forth: Knit all rows. Color change tip: Change colors on right hand side within front band. Change colors as follows: Knit a strip from diagram, turn piece and knit first 8 front band sts on next stripe in same color, Change to new color and knit rest of row with this (i.e. front band on right hand side is staggered 1 row). Do all color changes in same way so the yarn change is as invisible as possible. Buttonholes: Bind off for buttonhole on right front band. 1 buttonhole = K 2nd and 3rd sts mid front tog, make a yo. Bind off for buttonhole when piece measuers: Size XS/S: 9, 17, 24, 32 and 39 cm = 3½", 6¾", 9½", 12½" and 15¼" Size M: 9, 17, 25, 33 and 41 cm = 3½", 6¾", 9¾", 13" and 16⅛" Size L: 9, 16, 23, 30, 37 and 43 cm = 3½", 6¼", 9", 11¾", 14½" and 17" Size XL: 9, 16, 24, 31, 38 and 45 cm = 3½", 6¼", 9½", 12¼", 15" and 17¾" _____________________________________________________________ Back and front pieces: Knit piece back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 241-266-291-316 sts loosely (incl 8 sts on each side for front band) on circular needle size 3.5 mm = US 4 with coral. Knit stripe pattern after M.9 over all sts - Color change tip! – at the same time knit wave pattern as follows (1st row = RS): 8 sts garter sts, M.1 over 225-250-275-300 sts and 8 sts garter sts. Repeat until piece measures approx 10 cm = 4" – adjust to 1 whole pattern repeat in height. Remember buttonhole on right front band – see explanation above. Continuing knit M.2 once in height = 223-246-269-292 sts. Knit next row as follows: 8 sts garter sts, M.3 over 207-230-253-276sts and 8 sts garter sts until piece measures approx 17 cm = 6¾" – adjust to 1 whole pattern repeat in height. Continuing knit M.4 once on height = 205-226-247-268 sts. Knit next row as follows: 8 sts garter sts, M.5 over 189-210-231-252 sts and 8 sts garter sts until piece measures approx 24 cm = 9½" - adjust to 1 whole pattern repeat in height. Continuing knit M.6 once in height = 187-206-225-244 sts. Knit next row as follows: 8 sts garter sts, M.7 over 171-190-209-228 sts and 8 garter sts until piece measures 34-35-36-37 cm = 13⅜"-13¾"-14¼"-14½" - adjust to 1 whole pattern repeat in height. Complete in garter sts with coral over all sts – on 1st row dec 18-14-10-6 sts evenly = 169-192-215-238 sts. Knit next row as follows: 42-47-53-59 sts (= front piece ), bind off 4-6-6-6 sts for armhole, 77-86-97-108 sts (= back piece ), bind off 4-6-6-6 sts for armhole, 42-47-53-59 sts (= front piece). Complete each piece separately. Back piece: = 77-86-97-108 sts. Bind off 1 st for armhole each side on every other row 0-2-6-10 times = 77-82-85-88 sts. When piece measures 50-52-54-56 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22" bind off middle 33-34-35-36 sts for neck, and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 1 sts 2 times = 20-22-23-24 sts left on each shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾". Left front piece: = 42-47-53-59 sts. Bind off for armhole on side like back piece = 42-45-47-49 sts. When piece measures 40-42-44-46 cm = 15¾"-16½"-17¼"-18" put 11-12-12-13 sts mid front on a piece of thread or a stitch holder for neck and dec to shape neckline on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 sts 4-4-5-5 times = 20-22-23-24 sts left on shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾". . Right front piece: Knit like left front but reversed. Sleeve: Cast on 70 sts for all sizes (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 3.5 mm = US 4 with coral. Knit M.8 with 1 edge st each side 3 times in height. Continue in garter sts at the same time dec 10-8-6-4 sts evenly on 1st row after pattern = 60-62-64-66 sts. When piece measures 6-6-5-5 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2"-2" inc 1 st each side on every 3.5-3-3-2.5. cm = 1¼"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1" a total of 8-9-10-12 times = 76-80-84-90 sts. When piece measures 34 cm = 13⅜" bind off for sleeve cap on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 5-8-10-12 times. Continuing bind off 2 sts on each side until piece measures 39-40-41-42 cm = 15¼"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½", then bind off 3 sts 1 times on each side. Bind off remaining sts, piece measeures approx 40-41-42-43 cm = 15¾"-16⅛"-16½"-17". Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Neckline: Pick up aprrox 100 to 110 sts round neckline (incl sts on threads or stitch holder at the front) on needle size 3.5 mm = US 4. Knit 4 rows garter sts, bind off. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams in one within 1 edge st. Sew in buttons. |
