I'm sorry. I still don't understand. 5 sts 4 times would equal 20, not 40, right? is it 10 sts 4 times?
21.04.2020 - 02:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Macdonald, you have to cast on all these stitches at the end of each row, both from RS and from WS, so that you will cast on 5 sts 4 times = a total of 20 sts at the end of the rows from RS and a total of 20 sts at the end of the rows from WS - ie a total of 40 stitches all together. In other words, you will cast on 5 stitches at the end of next 8 rows (= 40 sts increased, 20 on each side). Hope this helps. Happy knitting!

I am making the white kid mohair pattern without a name which features a cable front with garter st at the sides; & sleeves. I am increasing in the garter stitches & the increases do not add up to 166 stitches for the large. You start with 60 sts. Increace each side x 14 = 28 + 60, then increase each side 9 times = 18 so now you have 78. Then 2 sts each side once (+ 4) for a new total of 82. Then 4 sts x 5 times = 20 more for 102. Then 8 sts for a total of 128. Please clarify.

Dear Mrs Macdonald, in larger size you start with 60 sts then increase on each side: 1 stitch a total of 14 times (= 28 sts in total), 1 stitch 9 times (= 18 sts in total), 2 sts 1 time (= 4 sts in total) then 5 sts 4 times (= 40 sts in total) and finally 8 sts 1 time (= 16 sts in total): 60+28+18+4+40+16=166 sts (= 53 new sts on each side). Happy knitting!

Synes der mangler lidt instruks i opskriften på, hvordan man udvider fra 78 masker 156, når man har strikket den ene halvdel af blusen.

Row 8-12: stockinette st. Garter st pattern: * 3 rows reverse stockinette st, 3 rows stockinette st *, repeat from *-*. Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work garter st pattern – see above - at the same time inc 18-20-18 sts evenly on first row = 58-60-60 sts. Now inc 1 st each side a total of 14 times on every 6th row, then inc on every other row: 1 st 9 times, 2 sts 1 time, 4 sts 5 times, and then for size S: 4 sts 1 time, size M: 5 sts 1 time, size L: 8 sts 1 time on every other row = 156-160-166 sts. After the last dec there are 58-60-60 sts on row, dec 18-20-18 sts evenly on row, change to needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work 6 cm = 2⅜" rib, bind off loosely. Middle piece, front: Cast on 58 sts on needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work cables. Work first row as follows: * P3, 1 cable *, repeat from *-* 5 times, P3. Continue until piece measures 47-49-51 cm = 18½"-19¼"-20" and now bind off the middle 40 sts for neck and complete each side separately. Continue in cable pattern, at the same time bind off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 2 sts 2 times. Bind off remaining 5 sts when piece measures 51-53-55 cm = 20"-21"-21⅝". Assembly: Sew middle piece to bind off and cast on row at front. Sew under arm sleeves.
