DROPS Sweater in moss stitch in Inka
DROPS 96-17 |
|
Knitting Gauge: 8 sts x 12 rows on needle size 9 mm = US 13 in moss stitch = 10 x 10 cm = 4" x 4" Moss sts: 1st row: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. 2nd row: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row. Knitting tips: The Inka balls vary according to the color they start with and this will affect the stripes in the finished garment. Front piece: Cast on 35-38-41-44-50 st (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 10 mm = US 15 with Inka. Knit Rib as follows: Size S + L: 1 edge st, *K3, P3*, repeat from *-* and finish with K3 and 1 edge st. Size M + XL + XXL: 1 edge st, *K3, P3*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 edge st. When piece measures 8 cm = 3⅛" purl 1 row from the WS and continue in moss st. When piece measures 12 cm = 4¾" inc 1 st each side = 37-40-43-46-53 sts. Repeat the inc in size L, XL and XXL when the piece measures 24 cm = 9½" = 37-40-45-48-54 sts. When piece measures 38-39-40-42-42 cm = 15"-15¼"-15¾"-16½"-16½" dec for armhole each side on every other row: 3 sts 0-0-1-1-1 time, 2 sts 1-1-1-1-2 times and 1 st 2-3-2-3-3 times = 29-30-31-32-34 sts. When piece measures 51-53-55-56-58 cm = 20"-21"-21⅝"-22"-22¾" bind off the middle 9-10-11-12-12 sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 1 time = 7-7-7-7-8 sts left on each shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 57-59-61-63-65 cm = 22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½" . Back piece: Cast on as front piece. Knit Rib as follows: Size S + L: 1 edge st, *K3, P3*, repeat from *-* and finish with P3 and 1 edge st. Size M + XL + XXL: 1 edge st, *K3, P3*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 edge st. After the Rib continue as described for front piece, but inc when piece measures 15 cm = 6" and not 12 cm = 4¾". In size L, XL and XXL make the 2nd inc when piece measures 30 cm = 11¾" instead of 24 cm = 9½". Bind off for armhole as described for front piece. When piece measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm = 21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾" bind off the middle 13-14-15-16-16 sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on next row: 1 st 1 time = 7-7-7-7-8 sts left on each shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 57-59-61-63-65 cm = 22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½". Sleeves: Cast on 20-20-20-26-26 sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 10 mm = US 15 with Inka and knit 12 cm = 4¾" Rib *K3, P3* with 1 edge st each side. Purl 1 row from the WS and continue in moss sts. When sleeve measures 15-14-14-15-15 cm = 6"-5½"-5½"-6"-6" inc 1 st each side on every 8-6-5-7-5.5 cm = 3⅛"-2⅜"-2"-2¾"-2⅛" a total of 5-6-7-5-6 times = 30-32-34-36-38 sts – fit inc sts into moss sts pattern as you go along. When sleeve measures 49-48-48-47-46 cm = 19¼"-19"-19"-18½"-18" dec for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 1-1-2-2-2 times and 2 sts each side until sleeve measures 57-57-58-58-58 cm = 22½"-22½"-22¾"-22¾"-22¾". Bind off remaining sts. Assembly: Sew right shoulder seam. Neck: Pick up approx 34 to 44 sts (divisible by 2) round the neckline on needle size 10 mm = US 15 with Inka. Knit 1 row from the WS and 1 row from the RS and continue in moss sts. When neck measures 15 cm = 6", knit 1 row from the RS and bind off in K sts from the WS. Sew left shoulder and neck seam – sew in the outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams inside 1 edge st. |
