DROPS Bolero cardigan in Silke-tweed and Vivaldi.
DROPS 95-13 |
|
Knitting Gauge: 12 sts x 17 rows on needles size 8 mm = US 11 with 1 thread of silke-tweed and 1 thread of Vivaldi in stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm = 4" x 4". The Cardigan is knitted in one piece, back and forth on circular needles. Loosely cast on 72-76-81-87-93 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side – all seam sts are knitted in garter st throughout) on needles size 8 mm = US 11 with 1 thread of Silke-Tweed and 1 thread of Vivaldi. Knit 2 rows garter sts and continue in stockinette sts with a seam st each side. When the piece measures 12-13-14-15-16 cm = 4¾"-5⅛"-5½"-6"-6¼" cast on new sts each side for sleeves on every other row (i.e. at the end of each row) as follows: 13-13-13-9-8 sts 1 time, 14-13-13-9-8 sts 1 time, 14-14-13-9-9 sts 1 time and 0-0-0-10-10 sts 1 time = 154-156-159-161-163 sts. Continue until the piece measures 26-28-30-32-34 cm = 10¼"-11"-11¾"-12½"-13⅜" and then insert a marking thread each side, you are now half way – NB: It is important to keep to the measurements, because of the width of the sleeves - they should be a little tight. Continue in stockinette sts until the piece measures 11-12-13-12-13 cm = 4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛"-4¾"-5⅛" from the marking thread (total measures = 37-40-43-44-47 cm = 14½"-15¾"-17"-17¼"-18½"). Now bind off each side on every other row (at the beginning of each row) as follows: 0-0-0-10-10 sts 1 time, 14-14-13-9-9 sts 1 time, 14-13-14-9-8 sts 1 time and 13-13-13-9-8 sts 1 time = 72-76-81-87-93 sts. Continue until the piece measures 51-55-59-63-67 cm = 20"-21⅝"-23¼"-24¾"-26⅜" – make sure the next row is from the wrong side - knit 2 rows of garter sts and bind off loosely. Assembly: Fold the piece in half at the marking threads and sew the side and the sleeve seams together inside of the seam sts. Crochet edge: Crochet a wide edge around the bottom of the sleeves and all around the opening of the Bolero. Using crochet hook size 7 mm = US K or L and Cotton Viscose + 1 thread of Silke tweed (start at the center back and at the seam on the sleeves) crochet as follows: 1st round: 1 sc in the 1st st *4 ch, 1 dc in the 1st of the 4 ch’s, skip 2–2.5 cm = ¾"-1", 1 sc in the next st*, repeat from *-* and finish with a sl st in the 1st sc from beginning of round. 2nd round: 3 ch and crochet as follow in the top of all the ch-loops: *1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc and 1 ch (= 1st dc group), go to the next ch-loop*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 3rd round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st dc group, 3 ch, 1 dc around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 dc around the same ch, 1 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the dc groups as follows: *2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc and 1 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 4th round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st dc group, 3 ch, 1 dc around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 dc around the same ch, 2 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the dc groups as follows: *2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc and 2 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 5th round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st dc group, 3 ch, 1 dc around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 dc around the same ch, 3 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the dc groups as follows: *2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc and 3 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. 6th round: 1 sl st around the ch in the 1st dc group, 3 ch, 1 dc around the same ch, 1 ch, 2 dc around the same ch, 4 ch. Continue to crochet around each ch from the dc groups as follows: *2 dc, 1 ch, 2 dc and 4 ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the 3rd ch from beginning of round. |
