---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. NOTE! When there are not enough stitches to work yarn over and decrease in lace pattern, work stockinette stitch over these stitches until the stitches have been bind off. 2 STITCHES I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. END OF ROW: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Work like this on right side and wrong side. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked in the round on circular needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Divide the piece for front piece and back piece and finish each part separately back and forth. Fasten straps on front piece to bind-off edge on back piece. BODY: Cast on 240-260-280-300-340-380-400 stitches on circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 with DROPS Safran. Work body in the round in PATTERN - see explanation above, work as follows: Insert 1 marker thread at beginning of round, work A.1 (= 10 stitches) 24-26-28-30-34-38-40 times in the round on body. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Work the until piece measures 26-28-29-30-31-32-33 cm = 10¼"-11"-11⅜"-11¾"-12¼"-12½"-13" – last round worked must be 1st or 3rd round in A.1. On next round bind off for armholes as follows: Begin 3-0-0-0-3-0-3 stitches before beginning of round, bind off 13-17-17-17-23-27-33 stitches (= mid under armhole), work 107-113-123-133-147-163-167 stitches as before (= front piece), bind off 13-17-17-17-23-27-33 stitches (= mid under armhole), work 107-113-123-133-147-163-167 stitches with pattern as before (= back piece). Then work front piece and back piece back and forth separately. BACK PIECE: Work back and forth with pattern as before, work 2 STITCHES IN I-CORD in each side - read explanation above, while at the same time decreasing for armholes in each side. First decrease from both the right side and wrong side, work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, purl 2 together, work pattern as before until 4 stitches remain, purl 2 twisted together, work 2 stitches i-cord (= 2 stitches decreased). ROW 2 (= right side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, lift slipped stitch over stitch worked, work pattern as before until 4 stitches remain, knit 2 together, work 2 stitches I-cord (= 2 stitches decreased). Work 1st and 2nd ROW 1-1-1-1-2-4-3 times in total (= 2-2-2-2-4-8-6 rows worked) = 103-109-119-129-139-147-155 stitches. Then decrease only from right side, work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, purl 1, work pattern as before until 3 stitches remain, purl 1, work 2 stitches I-cord. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 6-7-9-11-12-13-14 times in total (= 12-14-18-22-24-26-28 rows worked) = 91-95-101-107-115-121-127 stitches. Work pattern back and forth as before without decrease until piece measures approx. 35-37-39-41-43-45-47 cm = 13¾"-14½"-15¼"-16⅛"-17"-17¾"-18½" from cast-on edge. Switch to circular needle size 2 MM = US 0, then work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, purl 1, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) until 3 stitches remain, purl 1, 2 stitches I-cord. ROW 2 (= right side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, knit 1, work rib as before until 3 stitches remain, knit 1, work 2 stitches I-cord. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 5 times in total (= 10 rows worked). Bind off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. FRONT PIECE: Work back and forth with pattern as before, work 1 stitch in stockinette stitch and 2 stitches I- cord in each side while at the same time decreasing for armholes in each side. Then decrease only from right side, work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, purl 1, work pattern as before until 3 stitches remain, purl 1, work 2 stitches I-cord. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 6-7-9-11-12-13-14 times in total (= 12-14-18-22-24-26-28 rows worked) = 91-95-101-107-115-121-127 stitches. On next row from wrong side bind off for neck as follows: Work 2 stitches I-cord, purl 1, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) over the next 10-12-12-14-16-16-18 stitches, bind off the next 65-65-71-73-77-83-85 stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl (= 13-15-15-17-19-19-21 stitches remain on needle), work rib as before over the next 10-12-12-14-16-16-18 stitches, purl 1, work 2 stitches I-cord. Do not cut the yarn, turn and work left strap as explained below. LEFT STRAP: = 13-15-15-17-19-19-21 stitches. Work strap back and forth like this while at the same time decreasing for neck: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) as before until 2 stitches remain, knit 2 together. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl 1, work rib as before until 2 stitches remain, 2 stitches I-cord. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 4 times in total (= 8 rows worked) = 9-11-11-13-15-15-17 stitches. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work rib as before until 2 stitches remain on row, work 2 stitches I-cord. When piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from cast-on edge or desired length, bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. RIGHT STRAP: = 13-15-15-17-19-19-21 stitches. Work strap back and forth, beginning from right side as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 1 stitch decreased), work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) as before until 2 stitches remain, finish with 2 stitches I-cord. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, work rib as before until 1 stitch remain, purl 1. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 4 times in total (= 8 rows worked) = 9-11-11-13-15-15-17 stitches. Then work without decreasing as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) as before until 2 stitches remain on row, finish with 2 stitches I-cord. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 2 stitches I-cord, work rib as before the rest of row. When piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from cast-on edge or desired length, bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl.
