---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarn over twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. ELEVATION: To make the sweater higher in the back of neck when working round yoke, you can work an elevation at the beginning of yoke as explained below. Skip this paragraph if you do not want an elevation. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of round (= mid back), read KNITTING TIP and work the next 6 rows back and forth as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 12-13-14-15-16-17-18 stitches past marker thread at the beginning of round, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl 24-26-28-30-32-34-36 stitches, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit 36-39-42-45-48-51-54 stitches, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl 48-52-56-60-64-68-72 stitches, turn piece. ROW 5 (= right side): Knit 60-65-70-75-80-85-90 stitches, turn piece. ROW 6 (= wrong side): Purl 72-78-84-90-96-102-108 stitches, turn piece. Knit until marker mid back. Then work yoke as explained in pattern. KNITTING TIP: When working short rows there will be a small hole when turning the piece - the hole can be closed by tightening the yarn or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip first stitch purlwise. Place strand over right needle and tighten well at the back (should lead to two loops on needle). Work these loops together on next row. PATTERN: See diagram A.1 to A.5 (diagram A.5 only applies to size XL, XXL and XXXL). SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from mid back, work top down. If an elevation in the back of neck is worked after the neck edge, work the elevation back and forth on needle before working the rest of the piece in the round. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. NECK EDGE: Cast on 90-94-98-100-104-108-112 stitches on circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 with DROPS Paris. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 (cast on on a larger needle to avoid a tight cast-on edge) and work as follows: Work 4 rounds in stockinette stitch (= rolling edge). Then work 3 rounds rib = knit 1/purl 1. Insert 1 marker in the middle of row (= mid front), measure yoke from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8, work 1 round in stockinette stitch while increasing 10- 16-17-25-26-27-28 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 100-110-115-125-130-135-140 stitches on needle. Now work an ELEVATION at the back of neck - read explanation above, then work as explained below. If you do not want an elevation, continue as explained below. Work in stockinette stitch. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! When yoke measures 2½-2½-3½-3½-2½-3½-4½ cm = 1"-1"-1¼"-1¼"-1"-1¼"-1⅝" from marker, increase stitches on yoke by working PATTERN – read explanation above and work as follows: A.1: Work A.1 20-22-23-25-26-27-28 times in total in the round on yoke. Continue like this until A.1 has been worked = 140-154-161-175-182-189-196 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 6½-6½-7½-7½-6½-7½-8½ cm = 2½"-2½"-2⅞"-2⅞"-2½"-2⅞"-3¼" from marker. Work next round as follows: A.2: Work A.2 20-22-23-25-26-27-28 times in total in the round on yoke. Continue like this until A.2 has been worked = 180-198-207-225-234-243-252 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 10½-10½-11½-11½-10½-11½-12½ cm = 4⅛"-4⅛"-4⅝"-4⅝"-4⅛"-4⅝"-5" from marker. Work next round as follows: A.3: Work A.3 20-22-23-25-26-27-28 times in total in the round on yoke = 200-220-230-250-260-270-280 stitches. Continue like this until A.3 has been worked. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 14½-14½-15½-15½-14½-15½-16½ cm = 5¾"-5¾"-6⅛"-6⅛"-5¾"-6⅛"-6½" from marker. Work next round as follows: A.4: Work A.4 20-22-23-25-26-27-28 times in total in the round on yoke = 220-242-253-275-286-297-308 stitches. Continue like this until A.4 has been worked. Pattern with increases is now finished in size XS, S, M and L - continue from ALL SIZES. In size XL, XXL and XXXL work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 0-0-0-0-18½-19½-20½ cm = 0"-0"-0"-0"-7⅛"-7⅝"-8⅛" from marker, then increase one last time working A.5 as explained below. A.5: Work A.5 0-0-0-0-26-27-28 times in total in the round on yoke = 220-242-253-275-312-324-336 stitches. Continue like this until A.5 has been worked - continue from ALL SIZES. ALL SIZES: When the diagrams have been worked, work in stockinette stitch onwards - AT THE SAME TIME after 1 cm = ⅜" increase 8-10-11-17-4-8-16 stitches evenly on next round = 228-252-264-292-316-332-352 stitches. Work until piece measures 19-20-22-22-23-25-27 cm = 7½"-8"-8¾"-8¾"-9"-9¾"-10⅝" from marker. Now divide piece for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 34-38-40-44-47-51-55 stitches in stockinette stitch (= half back piece), slip the next 46-50-52-58-64-64-66 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 68-76-80-88-94-102-110 stitches in stockinette stitch (= front piece), slip the next 46-50-52-58-64-64-66 stitches on a thread for sleeve, 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 34-38-40-44-47-51-55 stitches in stockinette stitch (= half back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 148-164-176-192-208-228-248 stitches. Work stockinette stitch until piece measures 42-44-46-47-48-50-52 cm = 16½"-17¼"-18"-18½"-19"-19¾"-20½" from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 3.5 MM = US 4, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 28-28-32-32-36-40-44 stitches evenly on 1st round = 176-192-208-224-244-268-292 stitches. When rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl or bind off with Italian bind-off. Sweater measures 45-47-49-50-52-54-56 cm = 17¾"-18½"-19¼"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22" from marker mid front and approx. 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 46-50-52-58-64-64-66 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 52-56-60-66-74-76-80 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stockinette stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 2 cm = ¾" from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2 cm = ¾" 2-2-2-2-2-1-0 times in total = 48-52-56-62-70-74-80 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 12-12-10-12-10-9-7 cm = 4¾"-4¾"-4"-4¾"-4"-3½"-2¾" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 8-8-10-10-12-14-14 stitches evenly on 1st round = 56-60-66-72-82-88-94 stitches. When rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl or bind off with Italian bind-off. Sleeve measures approx. 15-15-13-15-14-13-11 cm = 6"-6"-5⅛"-6"-5½"-5⅛"-4⅜" from division. |
