---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.8. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. BAND WITH I-CORD: AT THE BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1, work 5 stitches in moss stitch. AT THE END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on needle, work 5 stitches in moss stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. MOSS STITCH: FROM RIGHT SIDE: * Knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-*. FROM WRONG SIDE: Purl over knit and knit over purl. Repeat these 2 rows. RAGLAN: All increases are done from right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in pattern. AFTER RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop that is in front the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in pattern. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 5-5-6-6-7-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 8-8-7½-8-7-7-7½ cm = 3⅛"-3⅛"-2⅞"-3⅛"-2¾"-2¾"-2⅞" apart. Adjust so that bottom buttonhole is placed in the transition between stockinette stitch and rib on body. DECREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker as follows: Work until 2 stitches remain before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches) slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Piece is worked back and forth, top down. Work yoke top down and back and forth on circular needle. Work pattern and increase for raglan. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. After body work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 128-128-132-132-144-14-144 stitches on circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 with DROPS Muskat. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work next row as follows from right side: Work 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD and MOSS STITCH - read explanation above, work rib (= knit 2, purl 2) until 9 stitches remain on needle, knit 2 and 7 stitches band with I-cord. Continue rib like this for 3-3-3-4-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½"-1½", finish with a row from the right side. Purl 1 row while inserting markers and increasing stitches evenly as follows: FRONT PIECE: Work 7 stitches band as before, purl over the next 16-16-16-16-20-20-20 and increase 1-2-3-3-0-0-1 stitches evenly (= 24-25-26-26-27-27-28 stitches on front piece) purl 2 and insert 1 marker between these 2 stitches (= raglan stitches). SLEEVE: Purl the next 22 stitches and increase 1 stitch = 23 stitches on sleeve. BACK PIECE: Purl 2 and insert 1 marker between these 2 stitches (= raglan stitches), purl over the next 30-30-34-34-38-38-38 stitches and increase 3-5-3-3-1-1-3 stitches evenly (= 33-35-37-37-39-39-41 stitches on back piece), purl 2 and insert 1 marker between these 2 stitches (= raglan stitches). SLEEVE: Purl the next 22 stitches and increase 1 stitch = 23 stitches on sleeve. FRONT PIECE: Purl 2 and insert 1 marker between these 2 stitches (= raglan stitches), purl over the next 16-16-16-16-20-20-20 stitches and increase 1-2-3-3-0-0-1 stitches evenly, work band (= 24-25-26-26-27-27-28 stitches on front piece). There are 135-139-143-143-147-147-151 stitches on needle in total. Insert 1 marker on the inside of band in one side of piece (= mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Now work pattern as explain below and increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches – read explanation above for increase method. Remember to decrease for BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above. Work pattern and increase for raglan at the same time, read the next two paragraphs (PATTERN and RAGLAN) before continuing. PATTERN: LEFT FRONT PIECE: 7 band stitches as before, A.1, 2-3-4-4-2-2-3 stitches stockinette stitch, work A.1 0-0-0-0-1-1-1 time, A.3, knit 2 (= raglan stitches). SLEEVE: A.4, A.5, A.3 BACK PIECE: Knit 2 (= raglan stitches), A.4. Work A.6 0-0-0-0-1-1-1 time, 2-3-4-4-2-2-3 stitches stockinette stitch, A.7, 2-3-4-4-2-2-3 stitches stockinette stitch, work A.2 0-0-0-0-1-1-1 time, A.3, knit 2 (= raglan stitches). SLEEVE: A.4, A.5, A.3 RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Knit 2 (= raglan stitches), A.4, work A.6 0-0-0-0-1-1-1 time, A.8, 2-3-4-4-2-2-3 stitches stockinette stitch and 7 band stitches as before (= front piece). NOTE! A.3 and A.4 show diagrams when increasing on every other row. Increase on the sleeves on every 4th row, work the new stitches into pattern. RAGLAN: ROW 1 (= right side): Work in pattern as explained above, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work pattern (remember to work yarn over in raglan increases as explained in RAGLAN). Work 1st and 2nd ROW 5-9-11-9-12-10-8 times in total (= 10-18-22-18-24-20-16 rows worked) = 175-211-231-215-243-227-215 stitches on needle, and the division is as follows: 29-34-37-35-39-37-36 stitches on each front piece, 33-41-45-41-47-43-39 stitches on each sleeve, 43-53-59-55-63-59-57 stitches on back piece and 8 raglan stitches. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Then work and increase for raglan as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work pattern and bands as before and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work pattern and bands as before (remember to work yarn overs in raglan increases as explained in RAGLAN). ROW 3 (= right side): Work pattern and bands as before and increase for raglan on front pieces and back piece, i.e. increase before 1st and 3rd marker and after 2nd and 4th marker - do not increase stitches on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work pattern and bands as before. Work 1st to 4th ROW 12-11-11-14-14-18-21 times in total (= 48-44-44-56-56-72-84 rows worked = 12-11-11-14-14-18-21 increases on sleeves and 24-22-22-28-28-36-42 increases on front piece/back piece). All increases for raglan are done; 29-31-33-37-40-46-50 increases have been done in total on front pieces/back piece and 17-20-22-23-26-28-29 increases in total on sleeves. There are 319-343-363-383-411-443-467 stitches on needle, and the stitches are divided as follows: 53-56-59-63-67-73-78 stitches on each front piece, 57-63-67-69-75-79-81 stitches on each sleeve, 91-97-103-111-119-131-141 stitches on back piece and 8 raglan stitches. Work pattern as before without increase until piece measures 21-23-24-27-29-33-36 cm = 8¼"-9"-9½"-10⅝"-11⅜"-13"-14¼" from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work as follows from right side: Work band and pattern as before over the first 54-57-60-64-68-74-79 stitches (= left front piece), slip the next 59-65-69-71-77-81-83 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-16-18 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work pattern as before over the next 93-99-105-113-121-133-143 stitches (= back piece), slip the next 59-65-69-71-77-81-83 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-16-18 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeve), and work pattern and band as before over the last 54-57-60-64-68-74-79 stitches (= right front piece). BODY: = 217-233-249-269-289-313-337 stitches. Continue with band and pattern as before. The pattern will not fit in the side under sleeves but work pattern so that it continues over pattern from yoke and as far as possible towards the side mid under sleeves. Work until piece measures 41-43-45-47-48-50-52 cm = 16⅛"-17"-17¾"-18½"-19"-19¾"-20½" from marker mid front. On next row from the right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 15-19-23-19-23-27-31 stitches evenly on 1st row (do not increase over bands) = 232-252-272-288-312-340-368 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5, work band as before, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2 - remember increase) until 9 stitches remain, knit 2 and band as before. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jacket measures 45-47-49-51-53-55-57 cm = 17¾"-18½"-19¼"-20"-21"-21⅝"-22½" from marker mid front and approx. 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip the 59-65-69-71-77-81-83 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6, pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-16-16-18 stitches cast on under sleeve = 67-75-81-85-93-97-101 stitches. The pattern will not fit in the side under sleeves but work pattern so that it continues over pattern from yoke and as far in as possible to the side mid under sleeves. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-16-18 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker. Continue established pattern while at the same time on 1st round after division decreasing under sleeve, repeat decrease when piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛" - read DECREASE TIP = 63-71-77-81-89-93-97 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 17-17-17-16-14-12-11 cm = 6¾"-6¾"-6¾"-6¼"-5½"-4¾"-4⅜" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 9-9-7-7-7-11-11 stitches evenly on 1st round = 72-80-84-88-96-104-108 stitches. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl when rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
