------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work the band as follows (7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work the band as follows (7 stitches): Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. Work like this from both the right and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.10. See start-arrow for your size. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. The diagrams are read from right to left when working from the right side and left to right when working from the wrong side. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn) from the right side, when there are 6 stitches left on the row as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 2, slip 1 purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work the band as before, knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked on the first row from the right side after the neck is finished. Then work the other 5-5-6-6-6-6-6 buttonholes with 9-9½-8-8-8½-9-9 cm = 3½"-3⅝"-3⅛"-3⅛"-3¼"-3½"-3½" between each one. The bottom buttonhole is worked in the transition between the stockinette stitch and rib. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-stitch as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-stitch, purl 2 together, knit 1 (marker-stitch), purl 2 together (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. The neck is folded double and sewn to the inside. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 100-104-108-112-116-120-124 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and DROPS Alaska or DROPS Nepal. Purl 1 row from the wrong side, then work as follows from the right side: Work 1 GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, rib (knit 2, purl 2) until there are 3 stitches left on the row, knit 2 and work 1 garter stitch. Continue this rib for 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2" (= neck-height when the neck is folded double). At the end of the next 2 rows, cast on 6 stitches for the bands = 112-116-120-124-128-132-136 stitches. The band-stitches are worked according to BANDS WITH I-CORD - read explanation above. Continue the rib until the neck measures 9-9-9-9-11-11-11 cm = 3½"-3½"-3½"-3½"-4⅜"-4⅜"-4⅜", finishing with a row from the wrong side. Insert 1 marker inside one band; the piece is now measured from here. Work 2 ridges (see GARTER STITCH), with the bands worked as before. AT THE SAME TIME, on the last row of the ridges (from the wrong side) increase 22-18-14-42-38-34-30 stitches evenly spaced (do not increase across the bands) = 134-134-134-166-166-166-166 stitches. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. From the right side: FRONT PIECE (= 29-29-29-33-33-33-33 stitches): Work the band as before (= 7 stitches), work A.1 (= 16 stitches), A.2 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), knit 2 (= raglan-stitches). SLEEVE (= 16-16-16-24-24-24-24 stitches): Work A.3 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.4 (= 8 stitches), A.5 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches) BACK PIECE (= 44-44-44-52-52-52-52 stitches): Knit 2 (= raglan-stitches), work A.6 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.4 across the next 32 stitches, A.7 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), knit 2 (= raglan-stitches) SLEEVE (= 16-16-16-24-24-24-24 stitches): Work A.3 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.4 (= 8 stitches), A.5 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches). FRONT PIECE (= 29-29-29-33-33-33-33 stitches): Knit 2 (= raglan-stitches), work A.8 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.9 (= 16 stitches), work the band as before (= 7 stitches). Continue this pattern, increasing as shown in the diagrams. When A.3 and A.5 are finished in height, there are 378-378-378-378-378-378-378 stitches: 61-61-61-61-61-61-61 stitches on each front piece, 74-74-74-74-74-74-74 stitches on each sleeve and 108-108-108-108-108-108-108 stitches on the back piece. The next section is not worked for size XS, go straight to ALL SIZES below: Sizes S-M-L-XL-XXL-XXXL: Continue the pattern and increase every 2nd row for raglan (8 increased stitches per increase-row) 0-2-5-5-6-7-7 more times (i.e., you have worked as far as the star in A.2, A.6, A.7 and A.8). On the sleeves, the new stitches are worked into the double moss stitch (A.10, make sure that A.10 match established pattern). There are 378-394-418-418-426-434-434 stitches: 61-63-66-66-67-68-68 stitches on each front piece, 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on each sleeve and 108-112-118-118-120-122-122 stitches on the back piece. ALL SIZES: The sleeve-increases are finished. Continue the pattern but now increase only on the front and back pieces. Increase every 2nd row (= 4 increased stitches per increase-row) 3-3-2-5-7-10-14 times. The new stitches are worked into the double moss stitch. There are 390-406-426-438-454-474-490 stitches: 64-66-68-71-74-78-82 stitches on each front piece, 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on each sleeve and 114-118-122-128-134-142-150 stitches on the back piece. Continue the pattern and bands until the yoke measures 20-21-23-25-28-32-36 cm = 8"-8¼"-9"-9¾"-11"-12½"-14¼" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: The piece is divided by the raglan-stitches: Work 64-66-68-71-74-78-82 stitches as before (including the 2 raglan-stitches), place the next 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work 114-118-122-128-134-142-150 stitches (= back piece), place the next 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work the last 64-66-68-71-74-78-82 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 252-264-276-292-308-328-348 stitches. Continue the pattern and bands (the new stitches are worked into the double moss stitch) until the piece measures 45-47-49-50-51-53-55 cm = 17¾"-18½"-19¼"-19¾"-20"-21"-21⅝" from the marker mid-front. On the next row from the right side begin the rib, AT THE SAME TIME decrease 44-40-40-40-36-32-32 stitches evenly spaced = 208-224-236-252-272-296-316 stitches, working as follows: Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6, work the band as before, rib (knit 2, purl 2 – remember to decrease) until there are 9 stitches left, knit 2 and work the band as before. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with knit above knit and purl above purl. The jacket measures approx. 49-51-53-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¼"-20"-21"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from the marker mid-front and 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder on circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 79-85-93-95-99-103-105 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 stitches under the sleeve- the round starts with the marker-stitch, which is always knitted. Continue the pattern in the round, with the new stitches under the sleeve worked in double moss stitch (A.10). AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 3 cm = 1⅛" from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 7-7-4½-4½-3½-3-3 cm = 2¾"-2¾"-1⅝"-1⅝"-1¼"-1⅛"-1⅛" a total of 3-5-8-8-9-10-10 times = 73-75-77-79-81-83-85 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 44-43-42-41-37-34-31 cm = 17¼"-17"-16½"-16⅛"-14½"-13⅜"-12¼" from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME decrease 17-15-17-15-17-15-17 stitches evenly on the first round = 56-60-60-64-64-68-68 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 44-43-42-41-37-34-31 cm = 17¼"-17"-16½"-16⅛"-14½"-13⅜"-12¼" from the division. ASSEMBLY: Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. Sew the openings at the top of the bands with small stitches. Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
