Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off; the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern from the right side. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The front and back pieces are worked separately, back and forth, then sewn together. The sleeve edges and neck are worked in the round to finish. BACK PIECE: Cast on 56-60-64-68-76-80 stitches with circular needle size 8 MM = US 11 and DROPS Wish. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) back and forth for 4 cm = 1½" and next row should be worked from the wrong side. Change to circular needle size 9 MM = US 13. Purl the next row decreasing 2-4-4-4-4-4 stitches evenly on the row = 54-56-60-64-72-76 stitches. Now work A.1 over all stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 29-30-31-32-33-34 cm = 11⅜"-11¾"-12¼"-12½"-13"-13⅜", bind off for the armholes at the beginning of every row as follows: 2-2-2-2-2-3 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 0-0-1-2-6-6 times, then bind off 1 stitch at the beginning of every 2nd row 3-3-3-3-2-2 times on each side = 44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches. When the piece measures 57-59-61-63-65-67 cm = 22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½"-26⅜", bind off the middle 18-18-20-20-22-22 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue the pattern and bind off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 12-13-13-14-14-15 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70 cm = 23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½". Bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on and work in the same way as the back piece until the piece measures 55-57-58-60-61-63 cm = 21⅝"-22½"-22¾"-23⅝"-24"-24¾". Bind off the middle 14-14-16-16-18-18 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue the pattern and bind off on each row from the neck 1 stitch 3-3-3-3-3-3 times = 12-13-13-14-14-15 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70 cm = 23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½". Bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams edge to edge. Sew the side seams from the armhole down, in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch. SLEEVE-EDGES: Use short circular needle size 8 MM = US 11. Start at the bottom of the armhole and knit up from the right side, inside 1 stitch, approx. 72-76-80-84-84-88 stitches around the armhole (the number of stitches should be divisible by 4). Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read BINDING-OFF TIP in explanations above. Work the other sleeve-edge in the same way. DOUBLE NECK: Use short circular needle size 8 MM = US 11. Start at the top of one shoulder and knit up from the right side, inside 1 stitch, 56 to 68 stitches around the neck (the number of stitches should be divisible by 4). Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 11 cm = 4⅜". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember BINDING-OFF TIP. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
